Hi all

In need of assistance and advice.
I have a Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super waterforce card which has been working perfectly since purchased. The card is about + - 3 years old and iv noticed my coolant (pure distilled water) has become cloudy. Iv also noticed a build up of something in the GPU block. Iv removed the card and iv attempted to clean the block while doing this i saw pieces of the micro fins that looks as if has eroded away over time. I'm now looking for a replacement block that will fit this card. Iv searched a few places but unfortunately I have not seen anything for this specific card. Any suggestions on a replacement will be highly appreciated 👏.

Model - GV-N208SGAMINGOC WB-8GD

If there's anymore information needed please let me know and il try my best to provide it.

Once your fins corrode its best to just get a new block, I'm unsure what block you would need for the 2080... but try @BykskiZA sometimes they are even willing to order you that block you need, might take time to recice it but atleast you will get something.

Thanks will definitely give them a try, iv seen 2080 blocks on the site but apparently there's a specific replacement block for this card. 🤷🏽‍♂️

best is to examine the entire loop and try to source the cause of the problem. maybe you have aluminum and copper mixed...

Doesn't hurt to ask I'm sure they will be willing to get you that specific block if they can find it... I definitely don't recommend using the same manufacturers distilled water for so long tho that should be changed every 6 to 12 months.

that is a pre-built system and knowing gigabyte they don't mix metals
i might be wrong but the model op listed leads to

Did some digging it's the GPU. The block is aluminum over time the nickel plating comes of then it starts doing this.

System is maintained every 6 months it's a custom loop, with 2 loops 1 for gpu and 1 for cpu.

This is probably the cause of problem. Maybe you should look to slap a nzxt kraken bracket and aio as an alternative or just sell the card and get something else. I would assume the other parts in the loop are also affected. :(

Will consider changing the card if I really can't find a solution. Apparently alot of people the got this card have the same issue and there's a gpu block that does fit as a replacement. Il keep looking around.

Good Morning

Sorry I'm late to the party
AORUS GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER WATERFORCE WB 8G

I also agree with the comments about the mixing of metals, it had to be some Aluminium component mixing with the copper/nickel-plated copper.

I would suggest giving everything a good clean and using some of our

Mayhems - Coolant Additive - Inhibitor Plus - Prevents Metal Corrosion, 15 ml

I'll be bringing in some of this to assist clients with similar issues

I can source you a water block, this seems to be the compatible block.

Please email me at support@bykski.co.za and we can sort out a quotation for you

Hi, Thanks for the response. The above mentioned model number is for the model after my card which does not fit.

My model number is - GV-N208SGAMINGOC
If you have a block that fits the above I will gladly be in contact for a quotation.

I can make 100% sure if you can send me a photo of the PCB. because the PCB layouts are usually the same on a few models.

please email me at support@bykski.co.za with the photo's of the PCB and I can definitely source you a new waterblock. The estimated price would be around R3000.00 with some lead time on the manufacturing because this will be a special order.

But like I said I think you can carry on using the original water block after cleaning it and adding some Mayhems anti-metal corrosion.

Has the corrosion on the metal pressure plate caused any performance issues? if you would like to just replace that i am sure you can go to your local CNC guy and ask them just to cut you new fins out of copper. (This all depends on how the pressure plate has been mounted to the acrylic part)

The card is still in the PC so it's a bit of a pain to get out but iv done some research and sent all the information I could find to the email address. Again Thank You all for the assistance 🙏🏽 😊.
