So I have been a Rain 5G client since 2019, R999 for the 5G Premium Uncapped option. Get around 300Mbps (almost no upload speed because of course it's not advertised so not even guaranteed, but I digress).

Recently a telesales guy calls me trying to peddle two free 4G SIM cards. Despite telling him that they would go straight into the bin/not interested, he persists until I say fine deliver the "free" sims and leave me alone.

I get the SIMS and next thing I know my network comes to a crawl. According to the app I have been moved to the new rainOne 60Mbps package for R959 per month. To go up to 100+ Mbps will be another R400 per month extra (take note I was getting 300+ Mbps for R999 previously). I also do not have the raineOne lipstick-on-a-pig-marketing-router either.

All social channels are terrible at getting support, as those are the only support channels they have. MyBB post gets someone's attention, they "fix" the "system glitch" and temporarily my speed seemed good. Next day speed is crawling again and the app says I am on the rainOne 100+ Mbps package and I got charged pro-rate for an amount of R849 or so instead of my R999 for my Premium Uncapped product...

With all that said I think everyone should avoud the more "premium" Rain products. RaineOne is an absolute joke of a product and should not be considered, the fact that I was moved to it without notifying me is making me livid. Luckily since 2019 fibre has become an option in the area...

I'm pretty sure Rain has an official presence on the MyBroadband forums. Might be worth asking there as well.

as far as i know, they are combiing all there packages....into that "one" bull shit, but your line shouldnt have been affected at all,

you should have gotten the same speed with two extra sims cards at a price" increase which they disguise as a freebe, its ducked, its basically what Capitec did with banking suites, savings account is a chequie account, etc

i am not excusing their service, just letting you know why it might have happened/

Kick up fuss and demand that the recording be pulled. It was a phone approach too so I think the cooling off period would have applied too.
Ok so got another MyBB person to assist and clarify things. The MyRain portal was showing my the 60Mbps option for R959 and an option to level up my speed to 100+ Mbps for an additional R400. Support told me they changed the naming of the packages and rainOne 60 starts at R559 or such, and I am automatically on the premium plan, so the portal was not showing me what I was actually having, which was causing this drama.

I do believe I was accidentally moved to the 60Mbps option as the previous support person did fix that to reflect correctly and speed improved then, still need to investigate remaining speed issues compared to before this whole raineOne nonsense.
