Hi all

I was hoping someone could give me advice on which fans is the quietest fans with the best performance.

I have 8 Cooler master (Link to fans) fans in my pc currently and the wife complains they are to loud. They are said to be 19dBA but I don't think they are anymore after so many years.

I saw the Noctua PWM fans are rated the most quiet but I can't find them on the usual online shops I use.

If someone could give some advice based on personal experience it would be much appreciated.
I also never used PWM controllers, would they also help if I reduce the speed? I used the supplied connector from the fan which lowers the RPM but she stilled complained its loud.

*I only have 120mm size slots available in my case.

Rebeltech now offers Noctua. They aren't cheap, but hands down my favourite fan. Also, make sure you regulate the speed of the fans via voltage if they dont have pwm capability

I have noctua redux and chromax, and I've owned the poop and tan ones before, all are legit quiet, you wont think they are on.
I run the 120s at 1200rpm (4 of these in my case) and its very quiet. The 140s I find to be a bit loud.
The corsair ml fans are also pretty quiet, while they are rated at a higher db level I think the frequency that it emits makes the difference

Good day,

Thank you for the response, I completely forgot about Rebeltech and had a look now. I saw they have PWM fans if I'm reading it correctly.
I'll buy a few and ask the wife if she is happy now.

So I guess i'll need to buy a PWM controller as well.

Awesome thanks for the reply I'll give them a go and have a Listen. :p

What motherboard are you using?

Control the fan speed VIA the motherboard software or in your BIOS. Slow those suckers down

It sounds like your fans may run at 100% speeeeeeed

Hi there
I have the MSI Z370 Tomahawk.

But they are plugged into the molex pins from the PSU so you are correct, they run full speed I guess.

Buy her headphones, they could be cheaper.

Haha and mess up her hair, pay for her hair everytime. I think I can buy all of us some fans considering what hair costs these days. So I rather not. Haha

You can get a fan hub for R100 and plug most of your fans into that and the rest if your fans into the mobo. The fan hub will connect directly to your motherboard and with the MSI software you can set the speed at different temperatures.

For instance when your cpu is between 1-45degrees you can set the fans to 20% speed
46-70degeees set speed to 50%
71+ set speed 100%

Monitor your temps for a while, if you cpu stays below 60degrees then you can lower the fan speeds even more.

This will make a HUGE difference to your noise issue.

I have 17 fans and at full speed my pc sounds like an aeroplane. With a low fan curve it runs quietly.

Note: your fans will need a fan header to plug them into the mobo. If there is just a molex on the fan then it's time to throw it away

I had a look and my Mobo takes 4 System fans, and the CPU fan, I plugged the fans into those sockets and wow what a difference, the wife even approved after I let her have a listen to the changes.

I have a few adapters that came with the Cooler master fans to reduce the RPM, so these are not controlled but they are just as quite as the motherboard controlled fans.

I just have one fan left that use molex so will replace it tommorow if I get the time, for now its unplugged.

I will have a look and monitor the temps when i get the chance to play a few games.

Here is my current temps at idle.
Temp 1
Temp 2

I just have one question: what is your computer doing in the kitchen?

Nice!

I see in your screenshhots system 1 and system 2 are still running at a highish RPM. when you get time have a look at the MSI software to adjust the curve. It can probably go quieter GoodLuck

Had a look thanks and turned it down now.

Does anyone know if my mobo MSI Z370 Thomahawk have a RGB header? - Nevermind, found it after I searched the correct term.

I'm looking to get myself a set of these perhaps. Antec Prizm

Those fan's in your link wont work with your motherboard.

Those LEDs are ARGB, your mother board only has a RGB connector.

There are 2 types
-RGB (4 pins)
-ARGB Adressable (3pins)

You cannot use ARGB fans on an RGB header.

ARGB is multicoloured LEDs
RGB Is one colour at a time.

If you really want ARGB LEDs then you must buy a pack that comes with it's own ARGB controller

The pack I'm intressted in comes with a controller, I had a look on Youtube and it apears the controller connects to your mobo RGB if I understand correctly.

I just checked those fans out and apparently they will work. You dont plug the ARGB into the motherboard it seems there is a little button on the fan hub that changes the colours of the fans

To be honest I'm not really 100% sure anymore. Usually there are 2 separate controllers or the fans plug directly into the board. This fan hub seems to do both.

I would phone and confirm with evetech, or ask them on carbonite in their section before purchasing

Thank you for the advice.

From what I saw the fans

As I understand from research. The fans have a PWM 4 pin and ARGB 3 pin. Which both plugs into the supplied controller.
The controller then needs to be plugged into the RGB header of the Mobo which would sync with my MSI mystic Light according to the Youtube videos.

Im new here on Carbonite, how do I find their section?

Oh damn thats quite nifty then! Which gives people with RGB headers only the flexibility of ARGB and for a really good price to

You can start a thread with the link below in their section

I'm a noob when it comes to RGB and all that shit. Maybe ask @Fox22743 - my understanding is that he is rather knowledgeable on this front. Otherwise, that controller seems available from Newegg

Awesome thank you, i've never used newegg, are they ok?

Somewhere is a kak long thread about a trial run someone gave on ordering from Newegg and they gave it the green light. Its pretty much Amazon with a different paintjob.
