So I have the following router TP-Link AC1200 Wireless Router, got my fibre 100mbps activated yesterday and I am shocked to see that via WiFi I get very poor and inconsistent results throughout our apartment (averaged sized apartment I guess).
I did the following tests:
1. speedtest on my phone, 3m away from router - clear line of sight. Results 20ms ping and speeds ranging from 4-40mbps
2. speedtest on my tv downstairs, probably about ±13m away with 1 or 2 walls in between. Results ±25ms ping and 3-15mbps.
I tried the following:
1. Changing channel from C1 to C3 too reduce interference = no improvement.
2. Changed channel width from auto to 20mHz = no improvement.
3. Did tests throughout the day, i.e. early morning and late night = no improvement.
Current Setup
2.4gHz band
channel = 3
channel width = auto
on average - 3 devices connected (2 phones & 1 TV). all devices were inactive while i did the test mentioned above.
My laptop is connect via Lan cable and I get perfect speedtest results every time = ±9ms ping and 93mpbs down and up.
My previous Hauwei 4G router did a much better WiFi job, I was able to stream HDR content on netflix on the TV downstairs which I cant do now. I basically get 480p video quality on youtube, anything higher then it buffers......
So I reached the conclusion that this router's WiFi is either dog shit, or I'm missing something??
Any help would be much appreciated!
