Opening thread again, waiting to hear if customer @donaldklopper is happy. Age of screen from my side is completely off. screen is manufactured in 2012. I bought it a year ago and was told that it is only 3 months old. Payment is done already and screen is delivered. Waiting to hear if he wants a refund or not.

What would a "monitor bargain!!" price be on a screen now, that was R2000 7+ years ago? Give me a fair price and I'll keep it after testing it. What would the community think would be fair for a screen that age to qualify as a bargain?

Yeah that's a tough situation for both of y'all. I plead the fifth. I mean a full HD IPS LED panel for R1.1k that's a bargain. But then you hear the 7 years then you think okay ouch that old for a monitor. To be fair 2012 is the launch date of the monitor and who knows the actual proof of purchase date? Also is there no way you can check the "Total usage hours stats"? Some manufacturers offer those stats.

That is not how this works, you don't ask the community for "what is fair". This forum has always been willing seller, willing buyer, he could have asked R50k and if you are happy to pay that, then so be it.

If you are not happy with a 7 year old monitor for R1 100,00, return it and get your money back. You agreed to buy at that price, found out some additional info, either keep it at said price or return it to seller. Either way, the discussion should be had with the seller in private about this.

Edit: For the record, I do not know the seller at all, I see he is also from Potch...

I asked him 3 times this afternoon, got no reply. So I’m pulling out. I’ve got my positive feedback on this forum. Never had someone whom is unhappy and if so I gave a full refund. Screen is in great condition. Made a mistake on the age. But I did include a link. My bad. But I feel that the guy whom is buying the bargain can also do his research before buying👌

And R1100 is a bargain even if the screen was/is 7 years old. You won’t buy a LED IPS panel 24” in your life for that price.

My suggestion would be that @donaldklopper decides if he wants it or not. (looks like it was collected, not shipped)

if he doesn't want it, then @CecilRobson puts a new advert in, stating pickup in @donaldklopper 's town.

new buyer goes to @donaldklopper ,meet up, and pays him for the screen. no one is out of pocket, and the new buyer gets a bargain.

its still a wow bargain, just not as wow wow wow bargain. heck if the screen was in my local town - I would directly drive to pick it up

Seeing that he has 0 itrader I will gladly help to get another buyer. I agree with you. Thanks for the opinion.

Based on the age of the screen that's a lot older than I was led to believe, I'd like a refund. Getting another buyer involved complicates things even further. The screen is still in Potch. I was planning on picking it up there on Thursday.

@donaldklopper
Not giving a refund, dropped the screen off at his daughter yesterday in Potch (screen works 100%). He complained about the age. I asked him 3 times on whatsapp(have the proof) if I should get the screen and refund her in cash. No reply after reading it immediately after I asked him. Im not in Potch as from tomorrow till Sunday. If it lands up ok bad deals. Everyone can read the story here. That is my story and I’m not changing. Never had a bad deal. And my itrader proves it. Thanks guys.

@CecilRobson

I do suggest you test the screen before doing a full refund

@MattyB
Thanks but I won’t be refunding. He had the whole of yesterday. And he chose to read my messages without replying). Even thought the age was wrong the rest is 100% correct the screen is in great condition and his daughter could also see that when I delivered the screen. I bought the screen in Bona Fide believing it was 3months old a year ago. So according to me it is about a year old. The link was provided aswell so he could have done his checks aswell. I also indicated no warrantee as I was not sure because of the fact that I bought it 2nd hand aswell. He also asked me if there is and I replied that according to me there is not, because I’m unsure. Like I said I’ve got other important things to worry about. If this lands up in bad deals everyone has my story, but I wont have time to deal with replying there during his week.

Cheerz all💪

@donaldklopper is a friend of mine and someone you can trust. I referred him to Carbonite, yes he has 0 iTrader, I can vouch for him. Admins please take note.

If a seller sold me a screen that is 1 year old ( I trust him because of the iTrader, I expect a 1 year old sceen, nothing less)

If I find out the screen is actually 7 years old I would want my money back, mistakes do happen. Do not be a douche about it. Do not tell me BS about a bargain price, 7 years old is approaching e-waste territory. An one year old screen might still give me 4 years of good service.

Selling a 7 year old screen as a 1 year old screen and refusing a refund should be grounds to ban a person imho.

@iiznh. I bought the screen a year ago and it was said to me that it is 3 months old. Test the screen. If it does not work I will refund, but it does and I have proof of that aswell, the condition is still great and it is a bargain, before you want to make a bs post here go do your homework. According to me the screen is just over 1 year. I’m not refunding on behalf of selling a screen I believed being just over a year old. I indicated that there is not a warrantee.

And yet again I asked him 3 times after his daughter got the screen if I should pick it up and refund him. He ignored me. I have the proof of that aswell only telling me a day later that he wants a refund. Sorry not refunding.

Maybe he should first test and use the screen to see for himself that it is a great screen before you tag in mate. Because as from tomorrow I promise you he won’t regret having the screen anyway.

Admins: I would gladly assist him to sell the screen. But that is as far as I will go.

@CecilRobson aaaaall right. You advertised the screen as 1 year old. @donaldklopper bought it, then tested it and found it older. IMO he didn't get what he paid for. If it works 100s or not, it's beside the point. Imagine you rock up to Ford and tell them you want a 2018 Fiesta. They send you pictures of a car, telling you it's a 2018 model and everything is lekker. It being 1 year old means it probably holds some warranty somewhere, since they carry a longer warranty than that. Then you pay for the car and all is dandy. They rock up at your place with a 2012 model. It works just fine, full service history and all that, but it's 6 years older than you were told. Would you accept that?

I wouldn't. I would refund him in full, including shipping fees and make arrangements to collect or ship the screen back to the original seller. I'm getting slightly tired of people advertising stuff on Carbonite now that's not in the condition or age they claim them to be.

so you would still think the car is a 2018 model even though they provide you with a direct link to the car including a description and telling you that there is not a warrantee because they bought the car 2nd hand from someone they dont know stating that the car is a 2018 model? I found out from donald that the screen is that old. I bough the screen a year ago from a guy saying it was 3 months old. So i advertised it with the info I had on it. He had his chance when I asked him 3 times in one day if I should get the screen and return his money.

He ignored me after reading my messages, his daughter was here on Sunday the same day I dropped the screen off, he immediately complained about the age, I offered to pick up the screen while she was still in town, because she was leaving on that day aswell. He read my messages directly after I sent them and did not answer me. If he told me that day that he wanted rhe refund like I asked this wouldn’t even have to happen, but he didn’t.

If ford offers you a full refund 3 times in one day and you dont take it it is your own problem not theirs. You can’t decide when you feel like deciding.

I will assist with selling the screen. The screen is in Potch anyway and I’m not in potch because of personal things I have to attend to( which I did inform him about aswell )So that is what I can do from my side. Open a new thread and sell the screen on behalf of the buyer and refund him like that.

Stop, slow down, relax. I also wouldn't respond immediately if I was in shock. Maybe he was considering options. Pissed off because he paid money for something other than what was promised. Keep in mind he's the one pulling on the short end of the stick here - not you. You have your money, he has the much older screen. Offering to sell it from his location is simply not on - now he has to sit without his money and with a screen he doesn't want and he still sits with the responsibility of making sure it gets to the next guy correctly? Refund him, collect the screen and then sell it. Honestly I would be more worried about my rep on here if I were you. You trade quite a lot on here and your instant "fight" attitude is getting slightly tiring. He's FULLY in his rights to give you an outright negative Feedback rating and if it's not resolved soon I'm going to tell him to do just that as well, because it doesn't matter if you "didn't know", the fact is that he didn't get what he was promised. Simple as that.

@Toxxyc I get that, but once again. If you are “pissed” off you would immediately take action and tell me to refund you.

I will make an arrangement with him. Screen is still in potch so I will be able to get it from his daughter in next week. I will then test it again before refunding. 💪 thanks.
