Hello Carbies

As the title says, for gains and weight loss, which is better or what do you recommend ?
Hitting the gym again after a couple of years ... need to get back into shape, I don't want to become a body builder or look super muscle-y I just want to gain a little more, lose some fat and then rip.

I have been seeing online that Animal products are not great and put a lot of things that is not needed just to make it look good like it has a lot of vitamins and nutrients, is this true ?
Reviews and journals seem to suggest Pharma Freak. is a great product but whats the real world from anyone who has used it on here :) On a few searches of top rated products Animal does not make the cut because its value for money ,price and nutritions just dont add up apparently.

I just joined up at gym on Monday and went to my first session yesterday, very stiff now, will go again on Thursday and push through the stiffness. I am thinking take the product after 2 weeks of gym so I am in a routine and there is no stiffness.

I am looking at PharmaFreak Test 2.0 and Pharmafreak Muscle (pre workout) or Animal Stak and Animal M-Stack.

Nutritech and NPL have a solid range , with good prices. Reputable brands and available all over.

Can't comment on the above products in question.

Obviously supplements are just supplements, so a good food diet always take preference.

All the best 💪🏻

+1 on Nutritech, there. Their products are also reasonably priced on Takealot and Game. I've started using the Gorilla Gainer and definitely assisting me in hitting my surplus target. Benefit of Gorilla Gainer, for me personally, was zero discomfort after having it, in comparison to normal whey, which made me feel bloated and uncomfortable. Worth checking out.

How sweet are these Nutritech Whey and Gorilla Gainer products? Evox being less sweet and USN being too sweet (last I checked). Or maybe we compare to a Coke? 😂

When I did use supplements - Evolve was very affordable + had plenty of carbs that weren't just sugar.

They also have unflavoured whey, which is nice if you want to make smoothies etc. without the whey affecting it.

One of the biggest questions anyone must ask when considering supplementing their diet is whether what it says on the label is actually in the tub/jar. Try to take supplements that have been independently verified as containing the ingredients and stats that are claimed.

I've had good experience with the My Wellness range, specifically the Superior Whey.

I've also been using My Wellness for the past few months, can recommend.

With that being said, as other replies have already alluded to, supplements do nothing for fat loss. The only way you can lose weight is a calorie deficit, which is achieved from diet alone :p

Also really happy to hear that you are on your journey to better health. Try not to become too focused on the results, and find ways to love the process. Results will come with consistency, at the end of the day.

Absolutely. What are brands we can trust with having what’s said on the labels. And yes would really love some unflavoured whey sources.

If you guys want to be slim just do what I do and eat whatever the hell you want to. That way you don't gain weight and remain sexy. Well, the weight part at least.

Not Smack Talk or helpful
Accurate in my case, however.

Eat right, do exercise.

I guess everybody is different, but I found no benefit from whey, creatine, any of that stuff. Just didn't do much for me. Might be different for people with a different metabolism though.

No you have us confused. I'm the short and skinny one, like Frodo. @Oj0 is the one who looks like Gimli.
Ah, I couldn't discern between you two because @Dom's Witbank-style mohawk-cum-mullet was obstructing my view.
Dude I have a full head of hair. You should spend more time finding a job and less time worrying about my hair.

Anyway, this is off topic so I'll stop with this now. Good luck @Greekking.
Agreed. @Greekking, try the My Wellness range and see how it goes. Be consistent and you'll get results.
