So its been a long time that I have had my current setup and I feel somewhat left behind in the stone ages. With some help from the forum and a few good souls I am happy to announce that I am moving forward technology. While the jump is not astronomical it is a move in the right direction as cash funds were very tight as my business has just picked itself up again after the ABSA Cape Epic. Many many pictures will be uploaded as my setup has completely being changed and testing being done. So ow down to the tech talk of what I had to what I have now, and what I still require.

Ancient Setup:

CPU : Intel Core 2 Quad Q8600 cooled with Dark Knight II
Mobo : Intel Skyberg
Ram : 2x2gb LP Regular Ram @ 1333Mhz
2x2gb HP Regular Ram @ 1333Mhz (Total 8gb Ram @ 1333Mhz)
GPU : Ati Radeon 5870 OC Edition
PSU : Generic 750W
Chasis : Cooler Master 590 Centrion
HDD : 1x200Gb Seagate Boot Drive
1x1Tb Seagate Storage
1x1.5Tb Seagate Storage
1x500Gb Western Digital Storage (Failing at this point)

New Setup:

CPU : Intel Core i7 3770 non-K cooled with Corsair H75
Mobo : Gigabyte Mobo will get description later
Ram : 2x2gb LP Regular Ram @ 1333Mhz
2x2gb HP Regular Ram @ 1333Mhz (Total 8gb Ram @ 1333Mhz)
GPU : Ati Radeon 5870 OC Edition
PSU : Corsair AX730 Semi Modular
Chasis : Cooler Master 590 Centrion
HDD : 1x200Gb Seagate Boot Drive
1x1Tb Seagate Storage
1x1.5Tb Seagate Storage

Want to still get:

Ram : 2x4Gb Corsair Venegance @ High hertz
HDD : 1x 128Gb SSD Boot Drive
1X 3TB Seagate Storage
1x 2TB Seagate Storage

I will be mentioning the people I got parts from a little later with pictures. Just need to get the time to put the system together.

Sweet

Keep Cool Carbies!

Awesome dude, glad your upgrade is finally going strong(er)!

Nice dude, that's a decent kick up the backside :)

Now you just need to pair a decent graphics card. That 5870 has seen its days :p

R9 270X is probably your best buy, though current dollar/rand exchange means everything is way more than a few months ago.

Dude what's happening with your old kit? I'm eyeballing that Dark Knight...

That is staying right where it is...should it require a new home you will be the first to know!

Getting SSD either tonight or tomorrow then the final stuff can be done...

Pics for the cable management that is done already will come later...

Well for now i hope the pics are good enough.

Good job man, I am starting my own mod this weekend CM690ii going to spray it 2k grey and hydro dip digital camo or skulls still deciding with a red pearl interior.

Does anyone have any feed back on Kingston V300 120GB SSD?

Can pick up one today for a round R975. Input is appreciated.

Thanks

So strangely I was experiencing a few issues...

Issue 1: BSOD
Issue 2: Black screen but everything is still running
Issue 3: Mouse and Keyboard stop working all of a sudden, but if I unplug the mouse and put it in a different USB port it works again??????
Issue 4: When I shut the pc down at night it hangs in the shutting down window and never actually shuts down??????

Upon been frustrated to the ends of the earth I decided to consult a friend of mind and after much discussion I decided to reinstall windows thinking it was a windows related issue. However when reinstalling windows the install would stop at 28% and then display an error code. After trying a different rom, windows disc the issue persisted. We then decided to try this again with a different hard disc and the error still persisted. Our last attempt was at the Ram which we removed all of my ram and replaced it with a different ram module and then the install was a success. So with that discovered I now have the task of trying to figure out which ram module is faulty. I managed to pick up a set of Crucial Ballistix Sport XT ram and it also suits my build.

If you encounter the same issue try replacing the ram first as this is what most websites pointed out from the start. Well anyways I will upload a pic or 2 later.

Cheers
