Hey hey

Long story short does anyone know a reputable place I could get my computer properly tested.

I took my pc parts to get built at computer mania and not long after it wouldn't post anymore and they didn't properly diagnose the problem. Now 3k went down the drain for a new motherboard I didn't need because they were wrong about what part was faulty. And the problem still hasn't been resolved so now I haven't been able to work for more than 2 weeks now.

Any help would be appreciated?
(Most of my parts were new and bought from different vendors

Hey, drop me a message then I'll see what I can assist you with, you have the PC at home I am assuming?

start with the basics, one ram stick, one hdd, psu and mb, nothing else.

then start adding other things one by one

You already at the right place. IF the new mobo isn't the problem then have it returned if it was their advice to replace it?

What area do you live in?

First steps:
  1. Give us the exact specs of the PC including:
    • Processor
    • Motherboard
    • RAM
  2. Ensure all cables are correctly plugged into the motherboard
  3. Remove all but 1 RAM module
  4. Unplug keyboard, mouse, hard drives and any other USB devices and try turn it on. What happens?
  5. If no luck, are there any beeps or diagnostic LEDs shining on the motherboard? If so, how many beeps or what LED is lit?

Yeah I sent it back. I got off the phone now and he's finally agreed that's its probably the cpu. The issue is now returning the cpu for rma since it's still under warranty.

he did some of those tests while I was there. But I didn't totally understand everything that was going on. He probably did all of that I guess

If you're going to open a thread requesting help, the least you can do is answer the questions posed to you. We can't really help much if you don't provide info.

What CPU, motherboard and RAM?

Sorry didn't read your post properly. Nah I'm gonna collect it from the place not long from now

Simplest route,

Unplug everything, GPU, HDD's, SSD, anything USB other than keyboard/mouse.. Start with PSU(Try another one of you have a spare as well), Mobo, RAM and CPU, use onboard display where you can. reset BIOS just in case.

If it doesn't post with two different PSU's, it can only be CPU or RAM, since you already have replaced the Mobo.

Motherboards usually have error codes through the Power LED or onboard speaker, look and listen for blinks or beeps, that could help you quickly as well.

Agreed, please post more details:
Specs:
Description of what happens when you power on
Anything else

Check that all the original parts are there when you get it back, and that all is plugged in. Often times techs won't properly rebuild when a machine is faulty...

I have even seen parts being swapped out for inferior ones in the past, so check the CPU too. And the thermal paste, so many techs won't bother if they suspect the cpu is at fault and the customer won't try troubleshoot.

What CPU, motherboard and RAM?
Sorry dude, I miss read your post. Alright... second times the charm
I live in the Cornwall area in centurion
Ryzen 3600
Aorus b550m pro
Crucial 32gb (3600mhz)
Psu - super flower leadex gold 750w

And the pc isn't with me the moment. I'm planning on collecting it today

If the CPU is dead out the box then RMA but also check that the pins weren't messed up during install in which case the shop should do some explaining.

So the pc boots, like the fans run and the rgb on the ram runs but they boot screen won't show.
Like the aorus picture and they even swapped out the gpu.

Okay cool, thanks.

It's possible your board might need a BIOS update. There was an issue where motherboards wouldn't boot with 3000-series Ryzen processors until they were updated to the latest BIOS. I'm not sure that that's an issue with B550 boards, but it's worth checking.

What happens when you put the PC on? Does the screen just remain blank or is there any kind of reaction?

Also, does the PC stay on when you turn it on, or does it shut down?

EDIT: I see the 3600 has been supported since F1 BIOS, so that's likely not the issue.

Super flower... If you do not have another PSU to test, maybe check this out:
TEST YOUR PSU WITH A MULTIMETER

Sorry everybody, for missing out on important information with the issue. My first time dealing with problem this big and I'm feeling overwhelmed.

So all black screen? So I'd say possibly the CPU is not getting stable power, or, you need a BIOS update as @UrBaN

No problem bud.

Have you tried with different RAM? I'd try a different kit, ideally with lower speeds just to remove that as a potential factor.

No stress. We are all guilty (myself included) of being a bit impatient when less-experienced people ask for help but don't give the info in the way we expect it.

Just take your time to read each post in detail and reply with the necessary info and you'll be fine.

I just want to confirm your timeline - is this correct?

1. You bought the PC from them but when you hooked it up and switched it on, it didn't POST
2. You took it back to them and they tested a few things, including GPU and mobo. But they've now concluded it is likely the CPU
3. Now they are sending it back to you, still not POSTing, while waiting for the new CPU to arrive?

Seems odd that they would send the still-not-working PC back to you. But if they've gone through the motions, and assuming they have been thorough, then it's not unreasonable to accept that the CPU is the issue and to wait for a replacement.

The pc booted the first time but didn't last more than 2 days. So I'll check for that damage when I pick it up

Can you get into the BIOS at all?

You said you got parts from different vendors, who built the PC? EDIT, I see Computer mania did the build

So while I was there. He tried a plugging in just one of my ram sticks and it didn't work. Then we tried one from the shop and still nothing. Not sure what speed he used from their stock

When you get it back and you feel like troubleshooting...
Unplug everything except the Mobo power, CPU power, CPU FAN, GPU and GPU power, and your front panel connectors, just have a monitor connected and maybe a keyboard, nothing else.
Check that only 1 RAM is installed into the slot closest to the CPU.
Remove the round CR2032 battery with the system not plugged into the mains, wait a while, press the power button to discharge any power still in the system.
Connect the PSU but do not turn it on.
Replace the battery.
Check the connections in the image
Check this image
Turn on the PSU and mains
Try power up the system.

@Grootman_K um Computer Mania for a PC repair? You may as well have taken it to Evetech or Matrix lol for the same result. I hope you get it up and running soon though bud we can all try assist you as far as we can.

so the timeline looks like this
1) bought all my parts individually over the past 6 month from wootware and carb members
- second hand cpu from carb member with 3 year warranty - brand new ram from a carb member - new power supply from wootware- Aorus b550m pro mobo from carb. Everything is under warrenty.

2) Took the parts to computer mania to get built. After they put the pc together it worked for less than 2 days. Then suddenly it just stopped posting when I tried booting it up. Like the screen would be totally black but everything seemed like they got power and the fans would run and the rob on the ram would like up. So I took it back to them and its got tested and they said its 100% the motherboard.

3) Sent back the motherboard for testing. In the mean time I bought a b450 tomahawk so I could work while I waited and then sell it off when the other one gets sent back.

4) took the new board the new board to them and still the same problem and I even asked them to update the bios and still nothing. I even brought my old psi incase that was the problem ( it was an antic 750w gold). The original board came back ( the aorus) and still the same issue.

5) I was told to wait a few days while they were testing and I was promised that its definitely the board again.

6) So now we're at this point. Gave them a call and they said to me its definitely the cpu now. I asked him if they used a new one to check and he told me that they don't have any in stock. And the confusing part is that I asked him a week ago, what if its actually the cpu and he replied "can't be it because it gets hot".

ATM I was thinking of just getting a new cpu and send the other one back for testing. But I'm gonna try be patient and not just throw money away like I did before.

I'm gonna try read all the messages again and see whats the recommended way forward.

Hope this makes sense, especially with my spelling and grammar issues lol and also gives a better description to whats going on.
