Item Wanted: A set or incomplete set of PBT double shot keycaps that fit cherry mx stems, not too fussed about colour or style at this time. Numpad not essential.

Desired Age Doesn't really matter, as long as they aren't too badly worn.

Ant and I are discussing and organizing it, I'm sure he will have some leftover when he is done with his project...

Getting keycaps is a MISSION. I highly doubt you will find a cheapy used set in ZA... not to mention double shot...
As to the switches, your best bet would probably be KDBFans.

Hey @Ant_Shrew If you wouldn't mind that'd be great! I'm not sure if those are going to be pcb mounted or plate mounted switches. I'm also not sure what I will be needing yet either so we can see closer to the time!

Thanks @PandaAttack1 , these bits and pieces seem pretty hard to come by in SA. I might just place an order eventually,but I really don't feel like waiting a month for it to get here. I already have stuff stuck at customs. I do have a friend coming back from the states at the end of the year so maybe i'll just be patient and have it sent to him in the meantime.

@Lu22X Those do work but I already have some. I was looking for something with a little less "gamerish" font to it. Not to mention the non standard bottom row wouldn't work for me in this case. Need something standard. Thanks though!

On the switches side, I have a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2014 with greens. Haven't gotten to selling it yet since some keys (c,v and .) double reg and a few of the keycaps jump off when pressed too quickly. Those issues shouldn't concern you guys too much though I rate.

On the switches side, I have a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2014 with greens. Haven't gotten to selling it yet since some keys (c,v and .) double reg and a few of the keycaps jump off when pressed too quickly. Those issues shouldn't concern you guys too much though I rate.

The greens are just a knockoff cherry switch, right? So all the mountings and pins should line up?

I have never owned a Razer board so I'm not really too sure.

Man, I wish we had better shipping in this country. I think it's many a retailers saving grace that we can't just order our stufff from Amazon and the like.
However these from Rebeltech aren't looking too bad right now. They're not what you would call subtle though.

Uh I believe so. I have a few of my Asus and Gigabyte boards' special caps lying around. I'll check if they fit on the razer this afternoon

Aliexpress is a good bet for keycaps, but the long shipping times is a nightmare. They're atleast decently priced and mostly with cheap or free shipping

As someone else mentioned, KBDfans have their own page on Aliexpress.

Okay can confirm that my cherry brown (Strix and Gigabyte Aivia) caps do fit on the razer switches.

Those are pretty man! I Just wanted to ask what the buying experience was like with aliexpress.

Did you just use the standard shipping method? When it gets to SA does it go through the local post office? How long did it take from when you placed the order? Were there any further customs charges?

There are quite a few cool sets on there I would like to get my grimy paws on.

Hey @Lu22X , I wasn't really looking for those kailh switches as I think they're pretty similar in feel to what I already have. But if you're just looking to get rid of it because it's rotting in your cupboard, then I can probably oblige you.

Just some of my experience:
You won't get great quality PBT double shots. PBT is too difficult to do well double shot. Also, you will only find them in OEM profile, which is great, unless you have tried cherry profile. The best budget keycaps are the PBT cherry profile ones produced by Gateron. Gateron makes the blanks and then 3rd parties like NKPC, YMDK, enjoyPBT etc. buy them and do dye sublimation printing on them. I just buy blanks, because nobody prints Dvorak for reasonable prices, and I prefer the look. You can get a set on aliexpress for about R300 (printed or blank), and then hope they arrive someday. (Still worth it IMO)
