Because the only way they can make larger margins is to sucker you into buying the base and then when your buddies are all on premium and you can't join their server, you are forced to pay for the expansion at full price. It's clever. Basically the game development has been paid off already and premium is the pure profit of cherry on top of the cake

They will have a 50% off sale off premium (more members playing premium is better for business long term and prolongs the lifespan of the game) so patience is a good plan.

It actually works out better buying the game with Premium now than premium itself. It's a R100 more than just paying for Premium.

All it takes is one developer/publisher to get greedy and then everyone decided to screw the system and charge for extras etc. Back in the day, devs were quite happy to give the public the tools make make your own maps etc. Now days that's revenue lost. Yes everyone wants to make money and making games is expensive but it's taken away the soul out of gaming fun.

And no I haven't started drinking yet, that will be later for the rugby :beer:

Its why I haven't touched any Mil Sim since BF:BC2. For a shooting fix I'll stick to Warframe thanks. Spending money on it is purely optional. Mind you I said that about League of Legends...

Then valve decided to break games into episodes, then some chop decided downloadable content was the way to go. Next we will see in-game purchases being the norm - out of ammo? Died? No problem, P1 insert credit card to continue.....
