Just thought of this and might go with this and see how a 980ti is WC instead of grabbing a 56/1070, since then I will have the headroom to OC

Item Wanted: Kraken G12
Packaging Essential: I guess, yess
Desired Age: meh
Location: Roodepoort
Willing to accept a shipped item: yes
Ballpark/Budget Amount: however much they go for 2nd hand? I think around R4-600?

FYI

Its 340 bucks on Takealot. Dirt cheap and well below your upper limit on the budget

Yep. Got mine for that special plus 25 for collection at nearest point. What cooler are you using and what configuration?

Stock cooler, looking to see if it is worth getting an AIO and cooling the 980ti and seeing what temps I can get there since I really want to play around and OC it, I have an AIO so I will see if it is compatible.

You'll certainly get lower temps but for the few percent increases on an OC it might be better keeping the bucks you would spend on a decent AIO and selling that 980Ti, pooling those funds and buying a better performing card I reckon. Even with the liquid cooling that 980ti performance isn't going to increase dramatically, well certainly not dramatically enough to warrant the additional costs.

Overclocking GPU's for a few more FPS is so overrated IMO 😁

The only practical benefits of liquid cooling are the lower temps and less noise and of course the aesthetics :D . Conversation changes of course with top tier hardware and OC extremophiles that are just trying to push their kit to the extremes.

Just my thoughts on it....based on some experience with the G12 on a 1080ti and AIO cooler

Did my 1080ti a few weeks ago, with a H90. Temps peak at around 55 in Durbans current devils anus heat. While running completely silence, I have a ml140 fan running at around 1000rpm on it, 2050/5900 clocks.

It is worth it, just not going to be nearly as pretty.

@Toy Machine do me a favour and use GPU-z to determine which exact gpu you have. And also, if you use msi afterburner or something similar see what your current max clock boost is while gaming. Then I can help better determine what overhead you can expect with the kraken+aio solution.

I would have to check while in-game, but card currently in my system GPU clock idles at 800mhz and Mem at 3505mHz

it is the EVGA 980ti ACX 2.0 SC+ version, would have to plug it still of course.

My thinking exactly, I am happy with how ti performs and this would mainly be for noise/temps. I would only really be OC'ing it because of the 3/4bios' available and to play around with the card, not really to push that few more fps, since i am already happy with how it performs, it just pisses noise out once under any type of load xD
