NOT My Rig - But builder of it.

actually...that costs just about what i paid (paying) for my car.....

drooooollll

very nice setup...just one thing...please don't put the PSU onderstebo

Dit is regop, die sticker is onderstebo. Die Trpple rad interfeer met die cable as die sticker regop is.

Dude plays Games on it and does a little coding, that is what i gather from the Programs on his old PC.

It's a Birfday pressy from Dad, lucky ne.

I know we should not envy nor hate but I'm very much guilty of both right now and in copious amounts too.

Hope he paid up front else you have a monstor rig but nothing to eat for the next year and a half.

Ah yes, I see now...just looked a bit silly at first :D

I like the idea of using one of the ram coolers on the NB for cooling....one thing I would change though it she PSU to a corsair :p

Why is he using 2 x XSPC RS360 Triple Fan Radiator to cool the CPU only and why no SSD?? Too much monies and too little knowledge of PC's... IMO

Here is some pics as well

Comment about the Cosmos 2, Actually very disappointed in the build quality, really expected more and little things missing that could really have made it a lot better. Had to “move” the screw holes a bit of the case, so that the Top triple would fit properly. Was easier to get the bottom 360 installed, did not want to do a lot of modding to the case as it isn't mine so used "brackets". Please note that this isn't mine, would have changed a ton of stuff TBH especially with the watercooling.

Very nice and all.... but can it play Crysis?? :D

I have to say if I was going for "The Best" there is one major change I would make. OUT with the 3TB seagate drive and in with 6 of these Corsair Force Series GT 480GB SATA Titan Ice Computer Store

Put 2 in Raid 0 for OS and then put the other 4 in a RAID 5 for data storage. Tell him to do it.... I would do it just to see if someone would spend that much :D

Not a fan of the Cosmos, personally I would go for either a Corsair 800D or maybe one of the Lian-Li cases.

Till when will this beast be at the shop? would actually love to come take a look at the build.

EDIT - oh and I would swap the Antec PSU for a Corsair AX1200. :)

Godammit!!!!!!! I wanted to do that.

Hey George, mind if I swing by and touch it? The tower................uhm I mean his rig............dammit is it ok if I touch the Personnal computer, want to feel what 55k feels like?

1xRS 360 IMO would have been fine for the CPU and I agree on that.
These LGA 2011's are pretty HOT I could not believe the Temps

Would have wanted to Put the GPU under water as well as they run Very Hot as well, and they are Bloody noisy like ATI 6990 Noisy.

Unfortunatly the PC left already today, The Birthday boy's MOM collected his PC today and bloody hell it was heavy.

BTW the AX1200's cables are too short.... Got me the AX and it was to short for the Trooper WTF??

If i Had R60K to spend on a PC I would want the Best and Wait for Parts I WANT to become available not just because I can get the PC as soon as possible.

@ HJC - I would get 6x Intel 320 600GB SSD's as your PC will limited there speed
Titan Ice Computer Store
The Cosmos is Awesome but Not really as good as I expected, had to MOD the top holes for the 360 to fit.

@ Lex - Unfortunatly I did not pick the Components, I Just Build the PC. He has a Force GT 180GB I installed

Would it bottleneck even if you installed a proper raid card?

As far as I understand, Yes, But I am no expert on it. That is why the Intel 710 is made on SATA 2 still, they are proper Server level stuff.

Server level CPU's and boards will be faster as the have the internal bandwith for it.

SATA 2 is SATA 2, whether for server or desktop use. You won't bottleneck with a high end controller card, just don't expect linear scaling. Anything past two SSDs is going to offer zero benefit unless you're copying terabytes of data daily to and from another array with equal bandwidth.

And for anyone recommending a Corsair over the Antec HCP 1200w... LOL. Show me the AX 1200 reliably supplying 50 % more than its rated wattage for extended periods and I'll concede that it is Antec's equal. Until then, no.

I had 3 Antec PSUs blow up on me a few years back, that's the reason I said go for the corsair. Won't touch an Antec again. I'm sure they perform great I just won't touch that brand again.

Then my finger points to crappy power in your house. Antec has had one of the best names in reliability since the early 2000s - before we were using Corsair, before we were using Enermax, hell even before we were using AOpen. The TruePower 430w was probably the most trusted PSU by enthusiasts and overclockers.

Check this

Output wattage on that will be about 1750w!

If memory serves it was in 2004. Upgraded to I think it was an Antec 460watt, it blew up 3 times. I got fed up and got a Thermaltake instead. Ran perfectly until I gave it to a friend a couple of years back and he's still using it. So maybe it was crappy power, but the thermaltake, gigabyte, aopen and corsair psu's didn't have any issues with it. Maybe I was just unlucky and got a few "made on friday" psus.

HCP1200 FTW :p

If I want the highest quality PSU for an average day to day machine (average according to us enthusiasts) I'd go SeaSonic X-Series. Anything where I'm asking Eskom to start a nuclear reactor in my backyard it would be Antec HPC 1200w (even the EVGA branded one).

Nice rig man.
Too much hating on the PC, it's good and I'm sure the owner will be happy with it.
Half the people who have "I would have done this and that" have budget rigs for all intents and purposes
SSD's in raid don't offer any real performance, 4K and IOPS performance will suffer without a dedicated buffered controller and there's no TRIM.

Would like to see this baby run when it's done :D

Thanks.

Mine is like a 5th of what this guy spent on his.

He is very happy and he says that the SSD make a Hugh difference.

Got the CPU up to 4.8Ghz@1.4V stable in Prime 95 but he didn't want to clock it, so i set it to default.

Don't know if it is good or Bad, but the Temps still stay on the back of my mind the Hottest core was 68Deg C @ 4.8 when running Prime, with 2x 360's shouldn't it be lower?, I reseated the CPU 3 times with MX 4 Paste and the Temps stayed pretty much the Same, Pump Flow was good compared to to another one we had at the shop.

For what it's worth, the OEMs behind the products are Flextronics for the AX1200 and Delta for the HPC1200. While the Flextronics is a great unit, Delta makes components to server grade and probably the only company that can equal them for quality is Zippy Emacs.

Agree with all on the lack of a SSD, like really???
Alos, so much of a red and black theme (Ram, GPU's) but yet no rampage extreme, i think it would have fitted in perfectly in there, even drop to a 3930K to save 5k, then get the board upgrade and SSD, not that i think money is really the issue there. but yes, why the ugly blue board :p

As for PSU's, The Antec 1200 and AX1200 are uncountably the 2 best PSU;s in the world at the moment. Between them is very little and i think is personal opinion. They are honestly the 2 best and many review sites agree, its not just me. Corsair is slightly tighter voltage regulation and is fully modular, whereas the antec is not fully modular, has longer cables and is slightly cheaper. Entirely personal opinion between them. If you have one, then consider yourself not needing to worry about power for a very long time, at least until they change the ATX specifications.

ah i missed that one, shame on me :(

180GB must be pretty cheap in relation to everything else being thrown in there, sigh
