I recently purchased myself a used entry level gaming PC and going through all the usual (and not so usual) pains of getting everything to work as it should.
I am not receiving any sound from the audio jack (front and rear) using standard cellphone earbuds. List of my actions so far:
1. Changed the Audio to "Enabled" in the BIOS from previous "Auto".
2. Tried uninstalling the Realtek HD Audio controller with the Device Manager - Scanned for hardware changes and then reinstalled
This did not work and the icon in the Device Manager had some kind of warning sign to it afterwards (cant remember exactly how it looked)
3. Next I went to my motherboard website and downloaded the Realtek drivers via the support page for my specific board
I ran the installation (and received an error). Ran installation again and the setup informed that previous drivers will be uninstalled. Then the setup installed the drivers again with no error. Prompted to restart and I did.
After restarting, the sound still wasn't working with the little cross next to the sound icon in the bottom right tray. Now also the Realtek HD Audio controller is no longer present in the Device Manager - so I am unable to uninstall the driver as it is no longer there. Reinstalling the downloaded driver, simply installs the driver (does not uninstall) and the same problem persist.
4. I have also tried the 'Add legacy hardware' in the Device Manager, but this failed. The Realtek controller is also not present when viewing hidden devices.
Anyone that may have some advice for what I can do next?
