ASUS Tuf A15 FA506IV - Weird Battery Issue

Hi Guys,

hoping for some insight or possible fixes to a problem that's randomly developed on my laptop.

It charges and discharges like normal, I get great battery life off power and have no issues with the charging and discharging of the laptop.

BUT, the weird part, the laptop will only work if it charges fully, it then goes into "battery mode" and will then remain that way regardless of what I do. Once discharged, it proceeds to charge again.

I cant figure out what's gone wrong to even come to a solution. I don't want to do a complete OS reset as I have digital keys linked to accounting software I don't want to go through the hassle of setting up and possibly losing data.

Things I've tried:
- Removed and re-installed My Asus + Armory Crate.
- Removed and re-installed all system/chipset drivers.
- Reset Power Settings to default and tried other fixes in the power menu.

I've also added an NVME and additional ram, but this issue started months after installing the two upgrades.

Not sure if its a charger problem or hardware issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you googled a hell of alot.

It's a strange issue. I hate to say it. But a windows reinstall should be tested too.

I would get a dirt cheap laptop hhd or cheap ssd put it and install windows new on it and check if it does the same.

Then you can rule out that possibility. Could have been a windows update or driver messing things up

Before you reinstall Win, see if the issue persists on a Ubuntu USB / install Ubuntu or Win to another SSD.
