Yes, 7 day local should the unit be faulty.

In the event that there is anything faulty after 7 days, the units would in theory need to be sent back to China in order to put in a limited international warranty claim, which, typically, most people are not prepared to wait and/or cover the cost to have this couriered back to us to being any sort of warranty claim.

The 7 days is to cover in the event of a faulty unit. Even a 1 year limited international warranty does not automatically equal 'replacement'; not without some sort of investigation into what has caused the unit to stop working in that hypothetical 12 month period.
