Hi everyone. Just starting my Sim racing journey, but at the moment have just been playing the career mode in Gran Turismo 7. Is anyone able to offer me some advice as to where to start? Have got ACC and Gran turismo, and looking to get involved in some local races. Are there events that take place regularly, or groups I can join? My skills are lacking somewhat, so progress is slow, but ideally looking to join a more relaxed group that play regularly.

Managed to source a Fanatec DD Pro, and rig, and fully sold on how fun this is. The wife, not so much though...

There are some sub services, @superrob I can't remember the one you told me about. But if you have all the track DLC's for ACC then try LFM - Low Fuel motorsports, they pretty much saved ACC. There is also a ZA ACC lobby that runs every so often.

We have a big local acc community. League races every week.

The main ones are raceface and monday night racing

Awesome, thank you. Any other sims worth looking into, or is playing on a PC the way to go with iRacing etc?

Automobilista 2 has been making some waves with the newer updates, if they continue building it it might become a competitor but would take a while to do so I imagine.

PC is the best for sim racing.Better hardware support and better sims.

iRacing is excellent for multiplayer and a good experience wrt to earning licences and progressing through a career. It's as close as it gets when compared to real racing. The downside is that it isn't cheap. Here's an article I wrote for Coach Dave Academy that should help you understand iRacing better:

The next best, in my opinion, is Assetto Corsa Competizione. I think it beats iRacing's GT3's but is let down by its poor built-in multiplayer. Low Fuel Motorsport fixes this problem with a similar rating system to iRacing.

Overall, if you want to race GT cars only, I recommend ACC with LFM. If you want to race anything else, then get into iRacing. If you're not interested in multiplayer, then get Automobilista 2.

Yup, as vinodh said, iRacing is where it's at. I've tried acc, rfactor, automobilista and they're all great, but still prefer iRacing.

Don't know if anyone said it, but GT7 is NOT a simulator. Unlike what they advertise, it's as good as need for speed to me. I play it myself on the PS5, but it's definitely not nowhere near a proper sim like iRacing.

As a side note, GT3 races are extremely competitive in iRacing. Lately I prefer GT4 and Dallara F3 races. The splits are quite fun and people are a lot more chill.

Ok awesome, thanks for the feedback everyone, will give iRacing a go and see where it takes me

Make sure you you get the 3 month discounted package first and use another name... So you can test if you like it...
