I recently got a fault while transferring files. A quick HDsentinal check stated "242 weak sectors" and a S.M.A.R.T "current pending sector count" error. I can't transfer around 4 files off the drive now but I can access/load them. It's about 8Gb out almost 3TBs of date. So it seems minor. I've read up that HD sentinal can 'fix' weak sectors but that requires a registered version. Is there a good alternative program that can do the same job?
Also for those that aren't too concerned about the possibility of date loss what do you think would be a fair price to ask for a HDD in this condition?
