HI guys

So I need some input please, I am a novice when it comes to solar, but I need to get a system, as I get load-shedding 3 times a day on most days, and then theres also constant power outages

I am looking at an 8kw system, the two options that i have received quotes for are the following
SUN-8.0 Sunsynk Hybrid 8kVA Inverter, Single Phase

2x SS-BAT-05K-WM-LFP Sunsynk 5.32kWh Wall-Mount
LiFePO4 Battery

8x SP-FG-545W Renewsys 545W Mono Perc Solar Panel -
DESERV SGalactic 144

OR

1 SUN-8.0 Sunsynk Hybrid 8kVA Inverter, Single Phase
2x GR-WM5000 Greenrich 4.95kWh 51.2v Wall-Mount Lithium
Battery - 1.5C

10 SP-FG-545W Renewsys 545W Mono Perc Solar Panel -
DESERV SGalactic 144

1 geyser timer

My questions are, is the Sunsynk batteries better or not than the Greenrich ones, Is it better to go with 10 panels, ? Are these panels good? Basically i want to know if these are good systems

Thank you Gents

Better to pair the Sunsynk inverter with the Sunsynk batteries. Also, pairing also extends the overall warranty of the inverter with Sunsynk.
Note that the warranty is only valid if the system has been installed by an accredited and experiencedinstaller, and that it is registered on the Sunsynk website.

In terms of panels - i reckon it's always better to go with as many panels as you can afford (within spec of course). Adding panels later just adds overhead and costs. Out of interest - what's the pricing for each? Does quotation include installation, COC etc ?

Yes it does include installation and coc, I also thought it would be better for the same batteries, I couldn't find much on the Greenrich batteries, there are so many brands lately that you can't get info on

Greenrich are decent batteries I've got over 30 installs with them. Zero issues.

Sunsynk also zero issues. Better to go for longer warranty, check there are some batteries that do extend the warranty by 10 years other than sunsynk.

I'm not agreeing that it's better to pair sunsynk with sunsynk. Yeah. The batteries are "guaranteed" to work with the inverter. But the interface is also propriatary making reselling or reusing more difficult should you choose to go with a Victron in the future (Say lightning killed your system and the insurance gets you something else) and more expensive upgrade to larger capacity.

Theres just no good reason to go with them.
The Greenrich batteries are good batteries.
Easier to upgrade in the future with larger capacity and easy to use with a different system

Also having just upgraded to a sunsynk myself, note that the inverters have a high pitch wine on some computer PSUs and appliances.
My BFs PC is dead silent. But mine has a very annoying wine whether running off of battery or off of grid.
And it's really really noticable on the LED Florecent replacement in the garage(Possibly cause I didn't remove the inductor before hand)

The noise can be fixed by updating the firmware and activating 'Low Noise Mode'

My budget is about 150 to 160k

I use about 20 units a day on average and on peak probably 25 to 30 units a day

My expectations are to use Eskom as little as possible, but I understand my budget constraints

The extended warranty on the Sunsynk when paired with their batteries only cover some parts or only labor… some marketing BS but you still need to pay if there’s a problem.

I’m not sure what the current pricing on the battery is but when they launched, the Sunsynk battery was around 35k whereas other brands where around the 25k mark. So 2 Sunsynk batteries was almost the price of 3 other brand batteries.

Depending on where you are based, the support for Deye may be better as there are a few Deye authorised service centers. Sunsynk support is beyond crap now.

Bottom line, I wouldn’t spend the extra to get the Sunsynk batteries.

Whatever battery you do decide on, make sure the brand doesn’t change models often so that when you want to expand in the future, you still can.

I chose pyoontech for that reason as I started with a 7kw bank and I expanded over the years to 42 kWh bank without any issues.
