So insurance finally paid out and I can finally replace my TV. But I have limited knowledge when it comes to choosing a TV. I know the basics but not enough to know which 4K/UHD/HDR blah blah tv is the better one. I use my TV for streaming and gaming and my budget is max R9000. Don't want to go smaller than 55" and must be ready for the next gen consoles

Models I have in mind:
1. https://hisense.co.za/products/hisen...0-55b7100uw-tv
2. https://www.samsung.com/za/tvs/uhdtv...A55RU7400KXXA/
3. https://hisense.co.za/products/hisen...0-55b8000uw-tv

I would like to get some feedback on which is the better one to buy. If there are better models, then please suggest it and why

Go for the samsung, Great quality for the price. BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!!! It has the apple tv app built in!

I want more than "just go for the samsung" as that is an opinion (not trying to be harsh, sorry about that). I'm actually looking for someone that can tell me why the Samsung is better. I want facts of why the one is better than the other one

Yeah stick to a known QUALITY brand like Samsung (or LG
Try to get one with a mouse pointer (like LG).

I have no faith in cheapo hisense products as they usually only last 2years (issues just after the warranty expired)

Remember to add a surge protector plug.. Usually a requirement from insurance.

I have to agree here. And not only is the quality suspect, the user experience is often lacking too. We have a Sinotec (no idea if this is better or worse than a Hisense) and it has Android - and it's awful to use. Very slow, often crashes, won't run some apps at all, notably Prime Video.

We have a smaller LG and it's just a dream to use in comparison, so I end up watching stuff on that instead of the huge Sinotec. Get the big brand, you won't regret it.

Take that 9k, convert it to ebucs and wait for the 40% specials, you can pickup sick TV's from their shop for killer prices, just keep in mind you need to be at the highest reward level.

Both my previous 2 TV's were LG, and they were great. But I have two issues with them. For some reason the picture quality are darker than other tv's and the software isn't supported for too long. So it gets outdated extremely fast.
Hisense is on my radar as their quality have improved a lot the past 2 years and they are running android TV which gets more regular updates from past experience.
I've never had a Sony TV, they do have a good track record. But spec wise I'm still trying which TV can give me the best

Insurance is only giving me a few weeks before picking up the old tv, so don't have too much time.

You're company seem to be wack, they should pay you the monies into your account, their probably just waiting for you to send them a quote, take the most expensive beast that they will pay for and go buy it somewhere else, but if they are insisting that they will just replace the TV outright you have dodgy insurance. As for my 2 cents on the actual TV, you have to physically go and check them out yourself, i have a Panasonic that's a beast and hasn't given me a issue of a day.

The quality comes from the sheets of glass they use to cut the panel from, afaik they have large sheets and the further away from the centre the cheaper (lower quality) the class, but I'm sure you can google and get a better answer from the web, hopefully you get someone that has the models that you listed and can give you some first hand feedback.

I think you understood wrong. As stated in my OP, the insurance paid out directly into my account. So I have the cash to buy it. So shopping around now to see what there is
