Hi guys, Raru has a special which lasts until tomorrow.

I'm divided between
EVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 760 - 2048MB GDDR5 Superclocked Graphics Card | Raru
and
Gigabyte nVidia GeForce GTX 960 OC Graphics Card - 2GB | Raru

I'm a bit worried about the Gigabyte one, although it's newer technology - as it looks like a plush toy in comparison.
I'm also worried about the EVGA one, as it's a 2 year old technology and the future drivers may not be fully optimized for it.

The budget is <= R3K.

I would welcome your informed opinions.
Thanks in advance!

Do you need to buy new? Else looking on the forum maybe for a AMD 280x you will pick it up for less than 3k with more performance than a GTX 760

Also what are the specs of the rest of your system and what is it being used for?

Go check on evetech.co.za.. the 760 is cheaper.. 960 is more expensive though but better looking..

Zohan: Doesn't have to be new, but... I was looking at the forum for a while, but didn't have much luck. Whenever there was a suitable deal, it was either swiped faster than light, or it was somewhere far away and I would need to organise my own transport, which I'm too lazy for ;-) so gave up eventually.

The rest of the system is i7-4770, 12GB RAM, HD 6850 (1GB), OCZ SSD, Windows 8, etc.
The current GPU is struggling with GTA5... having only 1GB VRAM, can't even run in HD in DX11.
The new games will probably follow the suit - will be more and more demanding, so I wanted to be ready.

Checked Wootware in the meantime - there is a R9 280 for below 3K:
PowerColor AXR9 280 3GBD5-T2DHV2E/OC TurboDuo RADEON R9 280 3GB GDDR5 384bit PCIE 3.0 Desktop Graphics Card - Wootware
And a GTX 960 which looks more like the normal size:

Would they be a better buy?
Thanks for the feedback!

RGG7598: Wow, thanks for the tip! So guess no great rush to catch Raru specials after all...

Np. And I think the 280x is the best buy between these cards.. I have one myself and GTA V runs smoothly..

Don't let distance come between you and a deal. Use Ichigo for a great courier service !
