I remember when NFS first came out all them decades ago. We would take turns trying to beat each others times. Had it down to single corners making or breaking it.

I like it.

Already have Forza Horizon 5 for the more realistic open world and Gran Turismo 7 for tracks so this is something new.

I just hope they put some effort into it. Still unfathomable how you can't remap the gear change buttons on NFS Heat, it's something so basic.

The art style is not doing it for me
I dunno it looks kinda cool to me. It's like they almost went for the vibe in Underground 2's comic style cutscenes.

Cell shaded graphics can look really good. Borderlands is proof enough of that.

It doesn't look that bad, very artsy. Not fan of the random coloured cartoon smoke so hopefully that could be changed however without actual smoke effects perhaps won't be too system straining.

It looks like they're taking NFS 2015 and mixing it with the Underground theme from back in the day with the comic-type storyline.

Honestly if they do it right with the new visuals and physics engine it can be worthy successor to the Underground series even if it looks a little goofy with the comic effects.

I really hope the cell shading isn't part of the actual game. This isn't Need for Speed: Into the Speederverse, which is where it seems they derived all of their inspiration.
It is part of the game. All the effects and graphics in the trailer is part of the gameplay. Read the IGN interview :)

Lol Forza 5 I removed as soon as they asked me Pronouns
This is just so that they refer to your character correctly in the cutscenes, so that you don't have the issue like in other games where all the dialogue has to be weirdly stilted to avoid using any pronouns at all. If you pick a female character and "she/her" pronouns then the other characters will refer to your character as "she/her" in the cutscenes.

It's not a "woke" thing, ffs, it's not that deep.

Anyway this NFS looks like all the recent NFSs - i.e. maybe play it on Game Pass for a bit when bored of other games. Heat was fine, but the story was way too short to justify paying full price.

It's woke @goldfritter stop defending it. Now move along to your next virtue signal
You're bizarrely butthurt about the fact that a game allows you to customise your character they way you want, bud. If this upsets you, you're likely to have a bad time in many games in future, since it looks like this is the way the industry is heading, whether you like it or not.

But you do you, keep boycotting, I am sure the game studios' bottom lines are shuddering at the very thought.

Sexist.

@goldfritter stop trying to think for others.

You don't always know the answer.

Go woke go broke, I don't care if me not buying the game affects them or not. What it does do is keeps my money where I want it to be. Their fans can fund them and I'll buy games which I prefer that is all.

Oh yes and the fact that driving through everything with no consequences is allowed in Forza 5 but that's why I prefer simulations for the most part, NFS is just really enjoyable for customizing your car which does not wish to identify as a Dustbin.

I'm sorry but it looks they're trying to make an anime.
They're literally doing everything the community never asked for.
Much of the community wants and Underground 2 Remake and they know that. The thing is it's EA where something like that will get fucked up and they know it, so they would rather not do it. They know they will never live it down. Licensing is also going to be an issue so they wouldn't be able to remake it 100% at this point anyway and they would get a lot of shit if each and every car and audio track was not in a remake.

What they have done judging by the trailer seems like the next best thing while trying something "new".

I would rather take what I've seen in the trailer over anything else that Criterion has ever made. When they announced that the series would be going back to Criterion after NFS Heat I was worried that this was going to be another NFS game where Criterion makes it as close to Burnout as possible which they did with their other NFS games and those were fucking terrible.

It seems you have some sort of beef with me for a reason that is not clear to me, so there is not much point in spending any more energy on this conversation.

Good luck to you and your battle against the hordes of wokeness.

I remember NFS2 cruising with the Limo that had the hot-tub in the back

More than fair, but doesn't mean they have to go the exact opposite.
They can try something new, but this looks hectic - I can say it because I've been a die hard fan through all of them including the war crimes committed by Criterion.

I'll most likely be a moron and give this one a try as well, but its the first one that I didn't like by just the trailer alone.

If you have EA Play you'll be able to try it out for 10 hours at least without having to spend 1K on it.

Honestly don't think it will be too bad. At the beginning of the trailer I was also like WTF is this shit until the Fast and the Furious references started popping up then they had me. I was like yeah the focus on illegal early 2000's street racing can work and the cars look really good even with the cell shading.

I'm not digging it.
I'm quite into the NFS games and into anime though this game... I can't help but grimace
You can have an opinion when you learn to answer your phone without having @Hamz1121 waiting for you.

I dont even know if I have EA play anymore, haven't opened origin in almost a year.
Will make sure, and def going to go that route - Hoping I'm wrong about it

Sign up for MS Game Pass Ultimate when the game releases and you'll pay R15 for your first month and get EA Play included :p
