Today I am sending in my mobo and PSU as something is fishy with my rig. Random restarts (in super low demand applications/games), random crashes, etc. Most of the evidence points to the PSU, but since both Mobo and PSU are with the same supplier and I've eliminated basically all other components, why not send both?

If they replace/ sort everything, I go on as before (without the drama) and use the same build essentially.
If they say, sorry homie, no buenos, need to refund/ credit, I am looking at doing another ITX based build.

Current sepcs:
8700 (non-k) + delid (because low temps = boss)
Gigabyte Z390 I Aorus Pro WIFI
LPX 3200 2*8GB
RTX 3070
etc.

I was looking at maybe going up a few gens (actually, 10th specifically. The 10400 seems on par with my 8700).
Or maybe switching to AMD 5000 series?

Only issue with the latter is their chips have a bit of a wonky failure rate (i've personally had to replace two for clients, yet not a single intel).
I cannot really be bothered with 'more' performance either, since the 8700 suits me on anything I need, and anything 'worthwhile' would be hella expensive for merely 10% gains (if that).

SO, except for this sucka

Anyone have any recommendations on stock currently available or incoming?

PS. I use my PC for gaming, 1440p @ 165hz (laptop is for work based processes).

PSS. Beer is love, beer is life (y)

Based on your rma history, your supplier sucks or they are giving you the stock with bad bins :ROFLMAO:

That aside, b450 or b550 board with a 5600x. Why? 5600x seems to have the lowest power draw for higher performance amongst all the latest 6 core cpu. Yea the cpu is more expensive on average, but you get more performance at less power, and less power use means less heat in an itx.

Heat isn't always a problem in itx builds. But can be a design issue from factory that you just have to find ways around it. But then again. My 8700 is only hooked up to a 1070. (Gotta wait for he prices to settle before upping it to something bigger)

im upgrading my gigabyte z390 i myself to z490i for wifi6 and 2gbe

based on this comparison
,
I will be sticking to gigabyte again since they are cheaper and reliable.

The asus board got quite a few bad reviews on amazon awell, as that was what I wanted to get initially, but not worth the price tag.

You honestly can’t say a brand is better than another. Each make good examples and bad examples.

Only fanboys rave about a brand and not an actual product model.

5600X + B550 = Perfection.

This is my new main rig.

Appreciated. The thing is, the 5600X seems so on par with my 8700 (non-K, delid), that I struggle to see the benefit of forking out 8k on a sidegrade. Both are 65w CPUs, and the 8700 has the benefit of being delidded, so it should trump it in temps.

But maybe I'm missing the obvious here ;o

The obvious is that the 5600X is a much better cpu than the 8700.
No 2 ways about it.

Old vid (I'm sure you've prob seen it).

B550 + AMD CPU, would probably even say just go 3700X since that was my last/best build. B550 is a solid platform to give you some years to run on.

The 5600X crushes the 8700K. The 5600X is closure to an 8 core processor from Intel.

Where are you getting your figures from?

The best Ryzen X570 SFF board happens to be listed for sale at a stoopid price right now on Carb.
