MP5 Back in CS

 Keen to give that a go. I've always been an SMG guy. I practically dig up entire open-cast salt mines with the P90 :sneaky:

Panorama has also had a full launch as well as the new Horizon case that was released recently.

I will be honest (and from what I have seen amongst some of the pros and analysts they seem to follow my train of thought), I think it is cool and all but it also is utterly worthless. It is a waste of a thing. So many others things about the game absolutely need to be fixed first before they worry about something like adding the MP5. You can't keep a game alive on nostalgia forever.

And as many analysts have pointed out, the CS machine is slowing down. It is slowing down to other competitive scenes. One super easy way to get thousands upon thousands of players back into the scene? Make MM not entirely worthless. Add a ladder. Add seasons. Create something useful.

Ultimately, CS is one of the few hardcore competitive games with an almost entirely useless competitive scene. No, I am not ignoring ESEA, FaceIt, etc etc etc. I am talking about CS. The game. That isn't CS the game. LoL is perfectly fine as is. DotA the same. They need to sort that out first before an update like this.

Just my 2c

Well said

Let's also not forget that the MP5 has essentially the same stats as the Mp7 yet the MP7 is still better.

I think it is more about the nostalgic of having the MP5 back in CS as it was part of CS for so long!

To some extent I agree with you on the seasons and so on.
But on the other hand, ranks in CS are much harder to work for and grind than on for example OW or LoL. So having ranks reset every few months or so might not be such a good idea.

MM and the ELO ranking system and matching up players is pretty much as competitive as you can get for the game.

If it were good enough as a competitive game, it would be used in the competitive scene which it isn't. They need to get it to a point like all the other games where it is used.

The last Major in Cologne.... Had over 1 million viewers online, and a fully sold out stadium. So not quite sure which scene you are talking about

Viewership numbers are not indicative of the active scene. They are also massively buoyed by in-browser viewer extensions.

I am also not talking about that. I am talking about the fact that CS is one of the only hardcore competitive games that, as a game, does not groom players and has not produced players in a long time. There are a number of articles written about it. In terms of a scene. It is a scene that is growing old and simply refreshing itself instead of growing.

The only thing currently grooming new players is the likes of FaceIt, ESEA, SoStronk, etc etc. The fact that the actual game teaches you little to no actual useful information with regards to the competitive scene means that it is not growing. It is a top heavy scene and top heavy does not last.

There was an interesting interview done with Noah Winston (owner of Immortals) and Tomi Lurrpis (GM of CSGO at Immortals, I probably spelt his name wrong) and they spoke about this exact issue and explained that this is exactly why scenes such as the Asian scene and the African scene have seen little to no growth with the biggest growth in the Chinese scene coming from this year. It is down to the fact that the game itself does not allow a competitive scene to grow because it is such a different game. He likened it to having completely different rules and strategies in school boy football to pro football. It just is not a good environment to be able to sustain the scene.

I am not sure I understand at all. And when you keep on saying scene you mean the game itself, not the competitive scene. As viewership numbers is the only indication of an active and growing competitive scene.

I have played many other games competitively including Dota and OW just to mention a few, and NO games in game comp mode is the same as a real match or clannie.
They are all played on custom servers and not through the games own "competitive" ranking system.
I think you are confusing noobs that want to play comp (MM) and pro players play competitively.

Trying to make sense of what you are trying to say exactly, but struggling a bit.

We making CS go great again... What you say? It's a dead game because they don't actually work on the game itself? Nah you are wrong didn't you see that new UI and now this MP5 the game has never been better oO ... Woah.. but no seriously it will be cool to have it back but still like why though xD. More skin money I guess??

I stopped playing CS in 2008, but for some reason I got the urge to try it again. So I got it on Steam and started playing about 3 days ago. I must admit. Besides for the random lag spike every once in a while, it's been pretty fun and I am truly amazed at the fact that I don't suck as bad as I thought I would. I played several rounds with the MP5SD today and I don't see the fuss. Most of the weapons in CS ain't anything compared to the actual weapons, but the MP5SD which actually has a 900 rounds per minute rate of fire with a hell of a good grouping kinda looks like CS got it right to me. The MP5 has more than a 100 variants around the world. It has been used in special forces since the first design and is still used by special forces today. If that doesn't suggest to anyone how good the weapon really is, then they'll just think it's OP weapon in the game.

Don't entertain that attitude, the type that studies the game yet struggles to pass some star rank. XD
