Hello good people

Need your help deciding between 2 monitors. Hoping to hear from a few who have similar setups.

Where I'm coming from - I have always only gamed on PC, and so far only on 60hz displays. Currently on a 28" 1080p tv. Yes, i know its not great. Text and Windows looks pretty shit, but gaming looks great.

I'm giving this setup to my boy, and i will be switching over to a Xbox Series X.

I have 2 monitors in mind (But please feel free to add any others as well)

Dell 27" 1080P 144hz Curved - DELL S2721HGF 27" 144hz Gaming Monitor - Best Deals - South Africa

LG 27" 4K 60hz Flat - LG 27UL500 4K IPS Monitor - Best Deal - South Africa

I didn't go for 24", as i have gotten so used to the 28" that each time i see a 24" it just looks too small.

I like the curved Dell, but its not a must have feature.

I have never seen or experienced high refresh rate gaming, so i don't know what i would be missing out on if i stay at 60hz.

27" 1080P seems like it will be the same shitty pixel quality, although when i have looked at the Dell in the shops it looks pretty crisp.

On the other hand, 27" 4K would probably be awesome (I need to go and have a look if i can find one to see in the flesh)

Also, Series X only supports HRD in 4K (From what i have read), so i would like to have HDR enabled.

Both are in budget (although the 4K is about a Grand more), but i will happily pay that for 4K.

So bottom line, between 4K 60hz and 1080p 144hz, what would be the best for Xbox gaming?

Thanks

What is the point of a series x if you not going to game on 4K? Then rather get a series s and stay on 1080p

So in short, if you already have a series x, then get the 4K.

Kinda what i was thinking as well.

Im assuming that at 4k the high refresh rate wont be a option in most titles anyway, so rather just enjoy the eye candy.

Exactly that enjoy the power of the Series X, the games do look good at 4K, and dropping it to performance mode give you the 60 FPS frames or more in some titles at the cost of resolution. But let me tell you between Quality mode and Performance mode, there is hardly a difference, you will have to look hard to see a difference. The games do look good at 4K.
