Hey Guys

Looking to start a new mini itx build (Mainly looking for a stylish small case that I can move between my Study and TV Room) and this does seem to provide much better value than a gaming laptop (Realistically only travel 3-4 weeks a years)

Want to buy a part a month or whenever there is a special then sell my PC in November and complete the build.

The Fractal Terra looks amazing although not sure it is available in SA, if not might need to go for something like Coolmaster NR 200.

Anyone else here have an mini itx build ? Is the sound and height build up an issue ?

Thanks

Loving this build but I need to go mid range not top end

Budget? Desired resolution?

I have an AMD ITX build which I love. RTX 3080, AMD 5700X, 32gigs of DDR4-3200 CL17 dual rank, SF750 in a Q58 Lian Li..

If I was to redo it for good 1080 performance for travel needs, I would just use an RX580 or RX6600 with a core i5 13400 or something and an ATX PSU to keep the price down (just make sure that the length of your GPU allows the use of an ATX PSU with the chassis).

The NR200 is not a bad case it not supper small but still more portable than matx cases.

I use one for an older gen, still just need to find the time to actually install one of the 3060 ti in it.

But using with 9700k, 32gb ddr4 3200, 256gb m.2, 1tb m.2, 4 x 1tb 2.5mm hdd (raid 10) with gtx1070 and works pretty well.

Also using full atx psu 1200w coolermaster(overkill, but just couldnt justify buying an sfx)
Havnt had any heat issues on this case, but not like i game alot.

*edit*

The human centipede of ITX chassis.

Look at how your hard drives and GPU are so bloody close.

They close but not touching. You'll also notice on that gpu the rear section dont really get that hot. So they get some airflow instead of in otger cases the drive is left to boil in the corner or rear.

I don't have pictures of mine right now but I like my NR200P. The God above all ITX cases is the NCASE M1 but they are no longer producing them.

The NR200P is lovely to build in and comes with a decent cooler and psu. Will recommend it to anyone

Probably between R 20k - R 25k depending what I can get for my current set up. Will look at new / second hand parts or just buy sales over a few months. Issues is the PSU and Mobo will probably be very expenisve.

Looking at good 1080 performace, don't need to push everything to the max just want to be able to play modern games mid-high setting for the next few years.

The combo someone put above is a good one. But if you're interested, Wootware has the Fractal Terra on their website. It's out of stock currently, and has never been in stock. But in my experience with them it means they've placed an order or are planning to. Click the, "NOTIFY ME WHEN STOCK BECOMES AVAILABLE" button and you'll get emailed any updates.

Yeah thanks have added the email notification but it might be pricey only time will tell.

I actually messaged them today to enquire about it. Their was response that they hoping to get it within the next month or two.

Seems to be a popular case so the demand must be high.

I too have always wanted an ITX build and the Terra just looks awesome.

Hit that notification bell and hope it gets here sooner than later.

I was actually in the exact same situation with Wootware at the beginning of the year with the Fractal Ridge. There were some unfortunate delays after I initially ordered, but I did end up getting it and I don't regret it at all.

You started looking at a build yet ? PSU and Mobo seem to be the only components that will be overpriced

I've done my research, unfortunately the itx options aren't many and yes the psu is probably the most overpriced.

I'm caught between waiting for the Terra (I have a feeling the price is going to be crazy), try out the CM nr200p (the case I wanted when it launched OR the Asus AP201 (its M-ATX) but I just love the look of it.

Ahh yeah also looked at the NR200P and get get the bundle with the PSU (I think the NR200P can also take a normal PSU if you 3d print a bracket)

Cooler Master NR200P Max Chassis (850W, 280mm CPU cooler, mITX)

My(wife's) only issue is I want to hook the PC up to the TV in our living room for gaming every now and then and the Terra fits in with the room without looking out of place

You know you can switch the RGB lights off, right?
But the ram is uglier with the lights off.

Also, that case is huge, almost 23 liters . Not ITX at all, NR200 really is the biggest you can go, to maybe have some ITX classification.

Having a look at 2nd hand pricing, for the price, I reckon he can get a better PC in anyways and that is smaller.

There's this case:

Thermaltake CA-1R3-00S1WN-00 The Tower 100 Tempered Glass Black Mini-ITX Mini-Tower Desktop Chassis - Wootware

It's a bit bigger than other ITX cases but it has good airflow, looks cool, and takes a normal ATX PSU.
32 liters. Approx 2.5 times more than the average acceptable size for ITX.

Locally new, cheapest "ITX" case is the NR200. ANy proper ITX cases, all need to be imported, for north than R4k.

NR200 is solid.

Just got an email Wootware will have the Fractal Design Terra in stock 21 August, but cost is R 3300. Will have to build a sytem and see what teh total cost is gona be

Just came here to report the same news lol.

So with woot not being able to confirm when the stock will be available I went ahead with a matx system instead.

Price of the Terra came in R200 less than what I estimated. So R3300 + R3600 for a Corsair SF750 puts you at 7k. Decent ITX mobo (AM5) 6k minimum.... you add on the rest.

Still doesn't take away that it's an amazing case I would still grab it.

All my components arrived this morning from woot, they still sealed, who know I might just return everything 😄😄

Yeah traveling overseas in Sep so might see if I can pick up a mobo and PSU in Europe as it should be cheaper otherwise I will just buy a part a month or when on sale

I recently built an ITX build using the fractal Torrent Nano, also wanted to do a Terra build but unfortunately my RX6950XT would not allow that. the case is super easy to build in and will support pretty much any GPU out there as well as using standard ATX PSU to save you money on the PSU. Only downside is its on the bigger side for ITX but compared to the NRP200P not that much larger and is far more versatile in GPU and PSU options.
