G'evening!

Are there any good media players out there!? I'm going crazy! So damn frustrated. This close to throwing my laptop against the wall (Don't worry, I'll put the video on YouTube).

I'm looking for something that is:
  • stable
  • can handle large library collections
  • excellent mp3 tagging capabilities
  • all-round-not-retarded

I've tried the following
  • iTunes - basic player with basic capabilites for basic people
  • MediaPlayer - like iTunes, only worse
  • Winamp - "I've decided that I don't like your album artwork so I mix-and-matched random pictures from your libary"
  • MediaMonkey - by far the best one from the list, but doesn't like big lists
  • Zune - Yeah, it actually exists. Can't do anything with it though

Any ideas?

For movies i use VLC not sure if you can use it for mp3 play back as i've never really tired it out :) I've used it more for movies and i love it :D

Have you tried Kodi(formally XBMC). If your folder structures and tags are all good then it arranges everything. It also downloads album art. There is another program you can use in conjunction with Kodi to help arrange all the music and sort out tags, just can't remember it's name.

Plez for the win! Have the plex server running on one of my microservers. Xbox One in the living room with Plex installed. Then an xbox 360 in main bedroom aswell as another 360 in Guest bedroom running plex. It organizes all of your media and even downloads all the information like original air dates, short description of each episode, what you have watched and even cover art etc.. not to mention you can stream your content to anywhere in the world

Try using WinAmp without pirated songs and it works like a charm.

PS: For movies I use Media Player Classic HC. It's by far the easiest to operate from a couch 7m from the TV.

I take it you're talking about primarily audio type media? For video there's lots of stuff but audio is more limited. I'm not sure what it is about iTunes that you find simplistic but I use it to tag my audio constantly and it can be pretty deep. I listen to a huge range of stuff - YouTube rips, podcasts, ministry messages, audio books, etc - and I've gotten quite good at making iTunes sort out my library.
