This seems like as a good as any place to ask.

I occasionally get the urge to try and build something, not that I'm any good, and I don't have access to proper machinery. Does anyone know of a workshop in or around Centurion / Pretoria where you can rent access by the hour? I found this place but it's rather far away and the time limit is going to be a problem. I may only want to go for a day or two at a time and months apart, sort of like a "pay as you go" thing.

Thanks

They have them all over the States but I can't seem to find one locally.

Nobody heard of something? Nobody willing to rent out his own workshop by the hour?

I would be more than happy to sign any indemnity forms you put in front of me.

Im not sure about your area, but Leroy Merlin does?
Also another workshop underneath Friends and Allies in Randburg

I Google Leroy Merlin and Friends and Allies in Randburg and found this and this. One is a regular shop and the other a rock climbing place 😄 Neither screams DIY workshop.

Funny thing is the Made In Workshop place I mentioned in the OP would be perfect despite the distance. I would happily pay R130 per night for the "After hours side hustle" package (working after hours might be better considering my lack of skills and likelihood of doing something stupid) and I would also happily pay for 15 nights in advance but forcing you to use all 15 night in 30 days is stupid.

I don't have that many ideas. Good or bad.

Okay on re-examination I see it's 90 days not 30 days. Better but still a little tight. 6 Months would be perfect.

i think tools4wood was doing something like that. they started off as a woodworking company, but they are branching off into other areas (building, steel, garden, tech) So there will be woodworking tools, but not sure about the rest

(if you havent registered at them, let me know and i will send you an affiliate link)

(i asked them for more information or a link to send to you)

That's a start, one should start on wood before moving on to more dangerous materials :D

Thanks I'll take a look.

There was a house4hacks some time ago in Pretoria, can't seem to find info now. It was the home of the morgan 3d printer, now bust.
Its a bit of a trip out to here, I'm on the east rand, but I've been thinking of making my home shop available for a while. Not much, but enough to do some welding and cnc routing and printing and stuff like that, as long as you bring beer and miss loadshedding ( Shop not on the solar ) and of course clean, I'm good.
