Hi people,

looking for some Mac advice. I currently have a macbook pro Late 2015 128GB. Runs like a dream for my work but space is becoming an issue. I saw a simple nvme upgrade online (link attached below) but wanted to know whether this upgrade would interfere with the basic updates and software functioning of my mac. I dont want to brick it as a result. Please let me know if this upgrade is a straight forward as described or if I will run into unnecessary issues as a result.

Hi! What is the model identifier?

Your budget for the upgrade?

I mean if its a perfect upgrade with no issues then i will go ahead and replace the nvme in my gaming pc to a 1tb and then put the 256gb WD nvme thats currently in my pc into the mac. I would think it shouldnt cost me more than R1800 for a 1tb nvme + the adapter to make it work in the mac ssd slot (found on takealot for cheap).

I would look at the transcend jet drive compatible with your laptop. I have installed many of them with no issues

The thing with Apple products are: Stick the overpriced original if you don't want issues.

They can disable any non-official product later with an OS update. This might result in the SSD not working and then requiring tinkering to fix. Or they might just ignore and it will work forever.

If you buy a compatible product like the Jetdrive or something from a large company, chances are if Apple changes something, they will come up with a firmware update to solve it.

I have a 480gb unit like this just sitting at the moment. Comes with the case so you can use the old Apple unit as an external.....
