Hi all.

I’m looking to purchase a laptop in the near future. I don’t want something too basic or too expensive because I’m looking to do daily tasks like email, word, downloading and transferring files and so on. I want it to have a SSD and able to perform multiple tasks with no issue.

Any recommendations would be helpful thanks!

Just to try to narrow it down, I’d like for it to have:

Brand: Unsure which is a good brand. I’ve never bought a laptop before.
8GB Ram (16 would be better)
Max 512 GB SSD (if it’s smaller that’s fine)
Processor: Unsure but probably i5(10 or 11gen) or i7.
Backlight: Yes

I haven’t been researching on laptops so I’m looking for advice.
Note: I’m not in a hurry to buy one but probably by the end of the year depending on BF.

Stick to Dell or Lenovo. Both have onsite warranties on most of their units.

i5 is plenty, newer i3's can be quadcore units. 16GB RAM would be plenty for decent multitasking. A NVME M.2 SSD is better than a SATA based SSD. I'd HIGHLY recomend a full HD screen (1920x1080), IPS panel if possible (good viewing angles and decent colour). A backlit keyboard is also highly recommended in my eyes, if not essential if you might be working at night.
