Last edited:
I bought this and it lasted 15 minutes before a 4 keys stopped working. How's your Friday going?

Just posting here because I know you lot may appreciate an S tier KB.

Thanks to all the great suggestions:cautious: I ended up with the following:

Just a two week wait for delivery but will update as such time as I have it.
Okay I have received the KB.

Little higher in the front than I'm used to but isn't seeming to be an issue as of yet. I went with the silent linears as I'm using it in an open plan office. That results in a slightly mushy key feel but really not bad but it's absolutely silent, like the membrane keyboard makes more noise.
Prefer the Sculpted OSA keycaps on my V5 to the Uniform OSAs on the RT100 but otherwise happy so far.

Will update over time as I spend more time with it. Got it late this afternoon.

I'm sending mine back.

Cant get the software to work and while using it in wireless mode in a ranked match it just switched off and took the sound with for some reason.

Skill issue.

JK, yeah if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Soz man.

This is a really long thread so let me just ask, where do you guys go to buy switches?

I'm looking to sell / trade 30 to 60 of the Redragon Blue switches that came with my TKL board and replace them with linear switches.

I was thinking about getting those but happy with the Gateron Reds for now. Send some feedback when you get them.

My Keychron switches are shipping tomorrow from Rebel Gaming so I should have them around Thursday. Since I only need about 60 switches I'm selling the remaining 50 over here if anyone is interested. I am also selling 60 of my Redragon Blue switches over here.

I don't know much about the depths of keyboards like you guys do, could you tell me what I should go for. I'm going to get a new keyboard, TKL size wise (Ieaning to Glorious or Cougar Puri mini) but don't know what switches are the loudest click in your opinion? There is so many options and configs, and if pre-lubed or not of said switches. The types of games is this:

Do you want clicky switches? In that case buy something with blue switches that looks good to you they are all quite loud. And get something with a hot swappable PCB so that you can replace the switches later if the noise gets to be too much. That's exactly what I did.

Thanks for this, I'll do that then. I saw so many different types (and configs) that I wasn't sure and figured I'd ask here, now I know where to start. Aprreciate the advice.

Keychron Q6 ordered. I am done listening to switch clicking vids.
Update on this from my side too, went with a V6 barebones kit and Gateron G Pro Reds from @Oj0. Installing the switches was a piece of pie and I used the generic 9009 caps that I've used on like 5 different keyboards now lol.

And I am supremely satisfied.

I love the simplicity of the pastel colours!

Your picture even looks rendered it's so perfect! :D

I finally got to try a Corsair K70 Core at Computer Mania today.

First impressions, it's pretty good. The switches are smooth and the stabilisers feel good. The knob is nice too. It's not as quiet as closed-top KBs, but obviously that makes it easier to clean, and it definitely sounds much better than my old K70 Rapidfire. The lack of hotswappability is a bit of a drawback too. The caps are a little bit rough, but if you like a more textured feel then they're good.

It also looks pretty low-key with the lights off, so it should be good for office use.

Overall, as far as I can tell, it's the cheapest linear, pre-lubed, pre-foam-dampened, full-size keyboard you can get (including a barebones Keychron V6 with switches and caps). It definitely feels way more like a modern, typing-focused keyboard than a "traditional" gaming KB, and for the price it seems to be a decent deal.

May as well put this here; anyone wanting to hang out and meet some keeb heads in Gauteng next month we’re planning a meetup in the #gauteng-meetup-ic channel in the SAKB discord 🙂

Quick One. Maybe you wise persons might have previous experience with the below issue.

My daughter uses a little Redragon K616 Fizz (pink and white effort).

One of the vertival columns of keys have stopped working (3, E, D, C). I've obviously tried replacing the switches without success. Looked online and found similar issues that all refer to either broken racers or caps on the PCB. I've inspected it closely and can't see any noticible scratches or damage and none of the caps have swollen etc.

The KB is 18+ months old, so outside of warranty. Anyone got some ideas I could look at or try, I'd apprciate it.

Hello folks! Could anyone point me to a local keeb discord? I think Keyn had one but I seen to have lost it.

I am on the hunt for a Rainy75 distributor who ships to South Africa.

Cheers!

I'm super excited about my new keyboard (first custom) will share pictures as soon as it's done

Thanks to @Cujo26 for all your help

Here is the build

Wooting H60 E + PCB
Tofu redux grey aluminum case (dark Grey)
White KBDIY PBT Keycap Set - BOW
Gateron Magnetic Jade Switches

I Will sell the Lekker L6o Switches that come with the keyboard but should I use one layer of foam or are two better?

I'm also not going to lube the jade switches, I'm going to first try it and see maybe after a while I can lube them

I'm still learning, like I said this is my first one but super excited, any advice would be appreciated.

Question for Hall Effect keyboards: Do O-rings do anything on those switches (other than making the deepest travel a no-go zone for trigger settings)? Near as I can tell the spring is wider, the stem looks like it has less plastic around it on most magnetic switches.

Hi keyboard enthusiasts, I am looking for some advice and direction. I have a Razer Blackwidow V3 TKL with the clicky greens. When I bought it I had no real idea about mechanical keyboards. I just felt I would like to enter the market. Now a few years down the line I find myself being annoyed with the clicky sounds and want to change to linear switches or tactile at a stretch.

I’ve been tracking a few keychron boards and since takealot have a fair amount of them I found when listening to sound tests they sound good. So apart from the regular PC shops that carry the gaming focused brands, are there keyboard specific shops locally? I came across CtrlShiftEsc but options are a bit limited on there. I would prefer a fully built board because I don’t think I’m at the level to go through the build process yet. Guidance is welcome. Thanks.
