Based on the fact that the Rii X8 claim was submitted within warranty, I expect the feedback to be a complete brand new replacement but I will update the post further once feedback is received (The remote alone costs about R350 brand new).

Updated post as TakeAlot came back saying the manufacturer will not replace the Rii remote unfortunately but its still useable just on the right hand side of the touch pad or with the directional buttons.
