Never ordered from them but i checked out there prices today. Most likely all grey imports. There prices are way under costs prices most items and they also offer items that we can'tget. But shipping time of 5-10 days aswell.

Indeed. Pricing cant be beaten…Good google reviews, but the oldest one is from 4 months back. Relative new company if legit

Reviews can be bought....never forget that. I was thinking about ordering something small and seeing what happens as they have a itx board listed that i need a for a build but dont have the time frame to wait 20 days.

My thoughts exactly…16k purchase is a bit too much of a risk at the moment

Still sus…But more info none the less

I have been looking at them recently as well. Interested in an ASRock ITX board they have available...
I noted they have a pay-on-delivery option via Dawn Wing / TCG, where you can use Debit/Credit card; thought this might help.

The reviews on the interwebs are sparse, and noted on MyBroadband, there was some flack around new members randomly giving positive reviews, which was sus. Obviously the two individuals behind this company know they're young in the industry, and it seems they are quick to respond to queries.

However, what @PsychoticKing has to say about grey imports gives food for thought. To me this looks like a company that imports Amazon items under a different label, since I do spend lots of time on Amazon myself, and with the relatively same lead time on orders. Also, I noted some price changes every 4 hrs on their hardware, which differs by 1-2% with tech on Amazon US and MyComputerUniverse AG

Might actually try ordering something small first, and pay on delivery or do the collection option in Midrand.

Any other advice or ideas?

BTW I was one of those who got burnt with RARU, so skittish always.

Maybe wait for @Zee666 to feed back?

My shipment is due to arrive next week so ill update when it arrives.

I've called them and was put at ease by the person I spoke to, but will see what happens next week.

At this stage I believe I would at the least have enough information to get a refund should anything go wrong.

Also posting here to say that I just placed an order for a cheapish item from them - 12vhpwr adapter cable. Unfortunately I'm in Cape Town so didnt have the option for payment on delivery, but the item itself isn't that much so at least the loss is minimal if it ends up being a scam.
Will report back with updates when I hear anything further.

If you are looking at purchasing the Eagle ICE:

Pricing does seem low as distribution costs have not changed since this item landed in S.A.

If you have a look at the warranty extenders, you will see that a total of 36 months will cost extra & adds up to R17 497.

Which means that the unit has 24-month warranty and they come with standard warranty of 36 months.

I don't know if you already took one for the team, but Gigabyte's ICE series is on promo until COB tomorrow. The card is R 15,999.

@Enigma visited their local store in JHB and purchased from them which gives me confidence my order will arrive too. Scheduled for 12th, I'll report back then.

update: Courtesy Call received from ITWorkup that my item will be delivered in 3 days. Sounds legit.

All in all it has been about 2 weeks since order date.

Out of curiosity, which ITX board?

I saw the nothing phone 2a on their website. Do you think it's a safe bet to purchase it or wait for connected devices to get stock ?

Safe as in itll arrive? yip, i trust em, took about 3 weeks for my part to arrive, but they're super helpful when you call and ask questions

Had a bit of a scare, always thought google/hellopeter/scamadviser search was enough but now seems like one must be even more paranoid... still waiting for my phone, but very glad to see people here got their stuff... the google and hp reviews just still seem too good to be true... some of them from lithuania... probably family/friends... but hoping for the best

I noticed that they do have an overseas store, so the Lithuanian ones could very well be legit.

I initally came across their store on Bobshop, and saw that they were verified sellers on that platform. Then I found their actual website and called the store to see if the people sounded legit (which they did :) ). After that I called and asked about the status of my order and they were able to give me time frames (about 3 weeks but they did mention there would be delays due to the easter weekend). 3 days before my delivery they gave me a courtesy call to assure me that my package had arrived at their warehouse and that it would arrive at my place in 3 days time, which I recieved with no hastle and in good working order :).

Hope this helps put you at ease:)

Thanks again! Just got message from courierguy so seems like I am in the clear. One thing that did put me at ease from the start that if they had been scamming people in south africa for 4 months, surely someone would have mentioned it on google or HP... but still I have stayed clear of scams from being a little bit more paranoid than needed. Also good to learn about carbonite!
