TBH I just need something that can handle a bit more bass than the HD 200 pro's
Will it have the clarity of the hd 200 pro? I really do like the Sennies I have but it tanks out on bass as soon as I push the volume...alcohol level dependent😇Amazon.com: Philips X2HR Fidelio Over Ear Headphone, Black: Electronics

DAC and amp is not an issue... NuPrime uDSD DAC...Yamaha AS-501 amp... using Yamaha's Headphone outIn terms of launch price HD200 was 90$ and Fidelio X2 was 350$.
I don't want to over hype it and say it will have more clarity, details etc but let me put it this way:
Some people prefer the X2 over the HD6XX and you don't need a ridiculously expensive dac/amp to power it.
Budget R3k for headphones...go...
Currently have Sennheiser HD 200 pro
Looking at
Audio Technica ATH-M40X Professional Monitor Headphones
Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Headphones
Sennheiser HD 300 PRO Closed Dynamic Around-Ear Reference Headphone - Black
HD 650/6xx out of my league for a while but would love to own it sometime this year

Even when I leave EQ totally flat the lows still tanks on higher volumes forcing me to dial down lowsIf that was your EQ curve you posted earlier, with +12 dB in the highs and -3 dB for 30hz then yeah, I bet it tanks on bass when you push them. Or am I mis-interpretting your EQ image?
Could be that you aren't so much looking for headphones that have large amounts of bass so much as ones that have good enough highs that you don't need to EQ them up which ends up sucking out the low end.
Early heads up for stuff I'm gonna sell to make way for a new DAC. I'll make a plan to photo, price and post them this week some time.
1. Airsoft R2R DAC
2. Shure SRH1540 headphone (excellent closed back headphone. Z got this review pretty wrong)
3. Item 3 TBC in time. Deciding what else to let go of but not quite sure yet
I can only let the Airist go when my new DAC arrives, which will prob be early April. The Airist is a superb DAC. There's a thread on it over at AVF. Hard to find now as well.
Disclaimer: Stating the obvious, but the sales are only official when I create the sale threads (will probably do so this week or over the weekend).
D-man! It won't be sadlyItem 3: If it's the HD800S please put me first in line.
You gaming only or also for music? If it's for gaming I would recommend the Astro Mixamp over other DAC/amps (it's also half the price). If it's for music as well, then that's a different story.Fiio e17. Worth it for Sennheiser Game One?

So since we do not have a dedicated audio section on the forum, smacktalk will have to do.
I recently bought a DT990 600ohm, and my goodness is it amazing for gaming. The soundstage is super wide and the separation is insane. It is light and the pads are among some of the most comfortable I've experienced. Had them on for around 6hours yesterday with 0 discomfort at all. Only moot point for me is the non detachable cable, but I will mod that eventually.
If the 250ohm are anything close to this one, it's a no brainer for me. At their price point, it will be tough to beat for gaming.
Your thoughts @Ninja_Theory ?
Be warned young one, DO NOT read through this thread. That's an amazing headphone.
I've gone for a much cheaper option - the AKG K240 Studio - very light, open back with suede cups - great for wearing for extended gaming hours without it weighing you down. I've connected it to a Behringer UM2 audio interface so I can give it a little more juice if I want to.
