Been eyeing this thread for a while but ended up buying Sennie GSP600s yesterday due to getting a great price and wanting simplicity of built in mic. Have to say though, they do sound amazing. Hard to believe they're a gaming headset unless you catch your reflection .
K so ill buy those if I find out open back just leaks too damn much.
They do leak but its really not all that bad, for example I would be gaming or listening to tunes while the kids would be behind me playing on my tablet or watching a movie, they cant really hear what I hear, unless they are absolutely silent.
The leak is both ways though, I can clearly hear them if they ask me something. I can have a full conversation with the headphones still on and music playing.
Thats obviously not my most common situation when I have headphones on but yeah you get the idea. Try and borrow a set to test first
Bet u excited for ur new headies my man!I know they leak, I've checked a couple of youtube vids plus there have already been some accounts in this thread and I understand the concept and it doesn't seem like it would be too bad, especially since I'm generally fairly far away from everyone. But at the same time there's no door for me to close and my system is far from quiet plus in summer I'm running additional loud fans in the room so there's still a chance it could turn out to be problem/annoyance.
I've got the K7XX coming in (a local lightly used one), it's paid for and I'm glad to be getting it. But I'm just planning for the future now that I know my GSX has so much more to give than I've been experiencing.

Happy u got the 7xx , compare to what u had and let us know.
think the only problem i have with the DT990 is that it doesnt have a removable cable. guess i could try modding the cable.sorry i have the akg 240 is semi open, how open is the DT990? the price is really good for the 990 and i can probably get it a lot sooner that it would take me to save for a HD600.
Congrats 🆒 I would venture to say you chose very well for your sound preferences (based on your posts)I've got the K7XX coming in (a local lightly used one), it's paid for and I'm glad to be getting it. With open I'm assuming you are referring to soundstage? If that is the case, the DT990 fits the bill. Big soundstage, full sound.sorry i have the akg 240 is semi open, how open is the DT990? the price is really good for the 990 and i can probably get it a lot sooner that it would take me to save for a HD600.

Dit was lekker!!!!!@HNO3 demo'd the M1060 yesterday... He put that thing KAK loud. Sounded like my home theatre was playing. No distortion and the planars handled it without skipping a beat.
JY GAAN DOOF WORD!
I'll test my LCD2 for gaming and report back. Been so busy, have not had a chance to game with them. One concern though, they are heavy. So I'm not sure how conducive to gaming they will be.:') We made it padawans! Now to keep this thread going long term...
QUESTION TIME:
On my drive to work, albeit a very short one, I was wondering what would be your top pick headphone for gaming? If money was no issue, what would you select off the shelf for gaming? For me it should have somewhat forward lows and should be crystal clear with great imaging. I've come to enjoy headphones with greater imaging more for comp gaming than a wider soundstage. If the layering is done right, its perfect.
My pick would definitely be something planar. LCD-2? My M1060 is AMAZING for gaming, and the LCD-2 should do everything better.
Depends how well the case sounds I guess? 😂guess i should go for the DT990, wanted to get a new case for my pc but i think it can wait
I was considering the HD800S, I guess with eq it should be possible to get the lows at a 'fun' level. It should be a little over represented. Ships flying around and explosions going off should have some oooomph behind the sound. Playing Apex with the Monoliths is a lekker experience, when things get busy and tense feels like you are in a super hero movie.I'll test my LCD2 for gaming and report back. I am very interested in the 800/800S. That will be my next purchase. I'm also interested to hear that incredible detail and humongous soundstage for gaming.
Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro Open Back Headphones - Sale & Repair South Africa - Mercury Music ? Seems a good price for a new set. (250ohm variant)can anyone suggest best place to pick up the dt990, and what colours they come in?

That is the only colour they come in. Higher end headphones don't have options, you get what you get.
