The hard drive in my sig is failing and is probably gasping for air, so I'm looking for a new reliable brand. According to this article Most reliable hard drives in the world
WD and Hitachi is the most reliable, however my drive is not that old. Was I just unlucky and should stick to a WD, or is there any other brand recommendations?

Looking for a 1-2tb hdd if that affects the brands in question.

Every brand had good and bad models. I hear sometimes there are good and bad batches of the very same model. I don't think Backblaze's experience with 16TB drives would be relevant to 2TB ones, just because it's the same brand.

I think your best bet would be to get intel from one of Carb retailers on the RMA frequency of the models currently on the market - and then try avoiding those.

Since Marcell is too lazy to copy/paste the drive in question:

WD 2tb 3.5' HDD
I'll do you one better, here's where I bought it:

isn't there a thread floating around about how unreliable WD green drives are?

Never buy a brand, buy a specific model. Obviously.

Toshiba hands down, I'm staying clear from WD. I'm on my 2nd WD Black drive and the smart is starting to fail.
