I dont think you can open up one big case cause every scam happen at different time and diff people. But thats not a bad thing cause having 7-8 theft and fraud charges against you is worse than just one.

Just my 2 cents, any civil action would be fruitless, as the cost of an legal assistance would probably be greater than most people lost. Don't throw good money after bad money. However, If you do lay criminal charges (and i suggest you do so ASAP, any delay in doing so tends to create doubt in the case against them), if they are found guilty then it is possible to apply to the court for an order of compensation for the victims involved. Off the top of my head i think its a section 300 order (criminal procedure act). This way you can put em in jail and get your money back without having to hire private legal assistance. The downside is that you have to wait for them to be found guilty... Hope that helps somewhat

Which is why I have said in my thread, take the matter to the small claims court.Will not cost you any thing other than and time and very little money, and the best part if the court feels like it, and when they don't pay up then, they will prosecute without costing you any further money.

Going to small claims court will automatically, get them a summons to appear in court and which if they fail to appear, gets them arrested.Once you start legal proceedings, it should be enough to get their attention.Be warned it will take awhile, the court, if you win, and based on evidence presented, may further institute criminal charges.

So totally up to you,just remember do not have any further contact with members, do not threaten parties, do no do any thing stupid, that will and can result in a case being thrown out.Simply inform them in writing with the intention of taking them to small claims court, and see if they bite.If they don't take them to small claims.What you should do, is each involved party that got scammed should go to small claims court, and get a case.Forward this information and any documentation to the parties, present it to the court. The judge will question it, perhaps.

To the guys that got scammed its simple , if you dont get your money back , do not go beat them up or threaten them as this will have legal implications for you. As emocudder said GO TO COURT. It is by far the best option and they will get what they deserve.

Honestly, you are right. I hoped with my effort, at least someone that was scammed would do something. But I guess not.

All she had to say was if he cannot pay we will have to do what we want to do. I cannot BELIEVE she did not offer to pay the money. Would she really rather want her son(s) in jail? I would pay sooooooooo much money to keep my child out of prison. SO MUCH!

I'm getting all my things together tonight and we are going to small claims court tomorrow. I will post about it later to keep you updated. I will also strongly be getting involved after, I will send PM's to all the "scamee's" with my court number (not sure how it works) so that they can add it to theirs when they go and complain.

Update:

I smsed Morne about his mother and that we will be going to small claim courts tomorrow and that I won't be postponing again (unless I get the money today). He said that he has already paid someone for half of a HD5970 and that he will pay the other half at the end of the month and then send me the card. His other suggestion was that he will pay me all the money at the end of the month. So I spoke to my father as he has dealt with these things before. Now he says that I should wait and see if it happens. If not THEN we go to the court. This is the LAST straw though.

My father says that it's still fine to lay a complaint against him after a month so we might as well wait.

I think she thinks she is more calling his bluff and he won't do anything about it or if he does nothing will come from it. Not to say he won't but just my opinion.

Oh and with the state of our jails no matter how much you want to teach someone a lesson in this country it is not something you should use as a tool to do so, it COULD cause serious permanent life changing damage.

I agree with the sentiment if not necessarily with the enactment. I reckon my folks would've made me pay double what was scammed along with a letter of apology.
