Hey Guys, great news, SA Servers coming soon for Gray Zone, announced by the mods on the 30th of April!

South African community growing by the day, more that 50 of us on Discord already, and the Early Release has only been available since the 30th of April.

Be warned, game only optimised for the High-End PCs, best graphics I have ever seen in a game, Unreal Engine 5!

Things to keep in mind:
  • This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development.
  • If you want to run this game at Epic Quality, you will need a High-End PC, CPU - Ryzen 5800X3D / 7700X & Intel 12700K upwards, GPU - Radeon 7800XT & Nvidia 4070ti Super upwards (16GB VRAM Minimum with Frame Generation & FSR / DLSS)
  • Game has bugs and in not complete, but it's currently R350.00 on Steam, and is totally worth the money in my opinion, even if you just want to use it as a Unreal Engine 5 technical Demo to see if your system is ready for the new UE5.
  • The new Crysis, the born-in-the-80's people here will know what I mean.
  • Every move counts, if you die on a mission, you have one chance to retrieve / loot your own body, if you die again without retrieving your loot, you loose it.
  • Looting similar to Tarkov.
  • Developers constantly applying fixes and updates, great to see how they are involving the community and giving constant feedback.
  • If you plan on playing co-op with your mates, you have to join the same faction in the beginning, you cannot at present change your faction, so communicate before choosing "sides".
Lastly, if you were looking for a reason to upgrade, or justification for the R40k+ PC you've been hiding the invoices from your wife from, this is it :p:ROFLMAO:

Been considering getting this. Only issue is none of my mates have it. Maybe I can join some of you plebs.

The entire faction plays as a team, and proximity chat is on, so I've teamed-up with randoms and VOIP in-game, completed tasks as a squad.
How's the lag to EU servers at the moment?
Guess the PVPVE mode will be pretty dead in ZA unfortunately, but awesome that we're getting servers regardless (maybe some of the Chinese players join our servers, like they do in Tarkov)

With regards to lag, not bad, we've been playing on the "Middle East" servers and at some stage we forgot that we had lag, also the queuing time was non-existent.

PVPVE wise, my opinion differs from yours, but I guess only time will tell, with further & future optimisation, hopefully more players will be able to enjoy the game, which should open it up to a larger group.

True, atleast the price is inviting. Not $250 :ROFLMAO:

That's fortunate. We're also playing on the "Middle East" and usually it's rubber banding like crazy.
That said I like the game and can't wait to play. Only lvl 4 now.

I tried the game, but it is hopelessly too early in its development to have been released now. I'll relook at this game in a few years time.

I think the servers are currently down for a patch where you may be able to reset and select another faction.

You gonna show me the ropes if I hop in?

Has anyone here gotten into any PVP yet? If so how was it?

Yeah PVP is quite fun, I have only played on PVP servers with a mate of mine. Think it might be a little daunting now being new and fresh to the game, so would recommend doing PVE server and complete some tasks.

What I do really like is that You can hide properly in foliage and everyone has the same render settings (so no "cheating" with low settings). Gear is reasonably priced at vendors and you always get a M4 or some gear as a reward when completing tasks. A nice feature of the PVP mode is that it encourages you to play with your faction instead of Tarkov which is pretty much a free for all from what I understand.

TDLR version: PVP seems cool from the little bit I have played.

Whilst we wait for the SA Servers, I find that some time the Europe West, East and Middle East servers performance / latency differs, so best to try each one until you find one that works well.

I tried Middle East and West Europe.

Rubber banding is pretty bad for me, think I'll wait for local servers probably.

Try using Exitlag if you have a sub.

I connect to EU West, you eventually (after like 1 or 2 tries) get a server that seems to run fine. The starting area is easy/quick to test if the server is kak or not.

Sounds like a lot of work to semi-fix a known issue that will still be there. I'll just play something else for now.

Regarding the game. Really enjoying it, 60 hours in and I think this game has a bright future. Sure it needs work but it has the foundation to be a really good game. Got the bug where I lost my head and container (everything on my character) on Friday, kept playing and then had the same bug again on Sunday. I managed to do a quest which gave me a container although it's smaller than the one I paid R600 for (sadge).

They've just released a patch to fix this so hopefully you'll be good.
