Soooo I finally freaking found out what the issue is.
The AMD drivers, in particular for the 6000 have been giving issues to users. AMD actually acknowledged the problem.
Not all but a LOT and there is a thread on their site/forum or what ever it is that was only started about a month ago. In particular to GPU hardware acceleration on browsers.
There is a workaround with some settings in Chrome which should help the issue and it does. My PC doesn't misbehave anymore at all. Not an ideal solution but I don't need to buy a new GPU so I'm happy.
