GIGABYTE GTX760 - 2GB - Rebel Tech

For about R800 more I think the GTX770 is a much better purchase.

Ermagerd xD 770 it is then!

From the reviews I've read, it gets owned by a 680? Anyone confirm that?
Remember back when the 660 was on par with a 580. What happened? :(

for same price you get 7970 with free games , which owns this card :p

Re: GIGABYTE GTX760 - 2GB - Rebel Tech

Go 770 Rather, seems to be a much beefier machine

Re: GIGABYTE GTX760 - 2GB - Rebel Tech

No that doesn't help :/ Tx anyway.

Yay more waiting...

Re: GIGABYTE GTX760 - 2GB - Rebel Tech

I wont trust that seeing that it is a 760 ti not the normal 760.

Re: GIGABYTE GTX760 - 2GB - Rebel Tech

I see that it is only 15% faster than the GTX660ti. I would rather

A) sell my GTX660ti SuperClocked and get a GTX770
B) get another GTX660ti SuperClocked and SLI them.

Of course the GTX 680 is faster. The GTX 760 is a $250 card, how can you expect it to take on a $500 GTX 680? The GTX 660 was almost as quick as the GTX 580 because it was a new core, Kepler, which replaced the old, Fermi. GTX 680 and GTX 760 are both based on the GK104 core, with the 760's core being a crippled version of the GK104 seen on the GTX 680. It was never going to beat the GTX 680. It wasn't meant to.

Re: GIGABYTE GTX760 - 2GB - Rebel Tech

I said 10 years ago soon we will be paying premiums on mainstream systems, It is just a very bad time for the entire PC market.

Re: GIGABYTE GTX760 - 2GB - Rebel Tech

Define mainstream? Define premium?

B makes more sense..

Re: GIGABYTE GTX760 - 2GB - Rebel Tech

Well I can vouch for both the 770 and the 7970 as I have both with me atm.

I ran some benhcies and in 3d mark vantage they score the same, 3D mark 11 about the same but in heaven valley extreme preset the 7970 beats the 770 to a huge extend. I guess it's the 3gb vram.

Battlefield 3 on 1080P both the 7970 and 770 stock the 7970 does about 86fps avg. On a Noshair Cahnals tdm where the 770 did about 72fps avg.

I'm still to run some crysis 3 and will update you guys.

My summary: The 770 is a nice card, the 770 is the card the 680 should have been from the start and it is in competition with the 7970 any day.

Why is it that differs from ALL the reviews I've seen?

Specs of test system please, which drives were used?

I can confirm that the 770 beats the 7970, and they clock like demons. 13xx MHz core speed is pretty easy with decent air cooling.

Re: GIGABYTE GTX760 - 2GB - Rebel Tech

3930k, Asus rampage 4 extreme, 16gb Trident x 2400mhz, Ax850 psu.

I will upload the excel spread sheets of the avg, max and min fps when I get home and link them to the tread.

It's the msi gtx770 gaming edition and an Asus HD7970 dc2 top.

I'm gonna split this thread now now...

Re: GIGABYTE GTX760 - 2GB - Rebel Tech

The HD7970 is architecturally outdated now, there is no more blood to be squeezed out of that stone so AMD will have no choice to respond with a new GPU line up now. While Nvidia is just refreshing, the 15-20% refinement gains have left AMD needing to respond with either Sea Islands as expected as Volcanic Islands is still 8 months away at least. Its a bit of a crappy market nvidia have created by doing this. The GTX700 family is not a new arch and Maxwell is only out in Q3-4 2014 while AMD were hoping to roll out to Volcanic Islands but this release has done nothing for the consumer market. AMD are going to have little time between releases and I don't know how this will make any buyer happy.

Oj0 I'll term mainstream as majority market for gamers, people that cannot afford highest end parts and the GTX760 is very much mainstream while the 780 represents high end. Premiums well you are paying R4.5K on what is essentially mainstream in this regard. I am assuming if AMD released Sea Islands tomorrow and they balanced themselves out then the price may change a bit.

Anyone could have predicted that. For one, thanks to inflation in the USA, $100 in 2003 is $126.60 today. That's more than a 25 % increase already. Don't forget our local inflation, just look at petrol. In 2003, petrol was around R4.00 per liter, it has tripled since. That means local delivery charges have tripled. It has nothing to do with anyone being greedy, it's just basic economics.

When the GeForce 6800 Ultra launched in early 2004, it commanded a $999 price tag - the same figure claimed by the likes of the GeForce GTX 690, GeForce GTX Titan and Radeon HD 7990. However, $999 back in early 2004 is a little over $1200 today. If anything, graphics cards are getting cheaper. Just like nothing stopped you from using a GeForce FX 5500 or Radeon 9500 when the 6800 Ultra came out, nothing is stopping you from using a GeForce GTX 550 Ti or Radeon 6850 today. As with back then, you can still play almost everything - you just can't max it out.

Must say I never even heard of PNY before getting my GTX680 and must admit I am more than happy so far with it.
Christie do you know if the specs of the PNY xl8 enthusiast edition cards differ from the stock reference cards?

You can share it via drop box, just make sure the folder you put it in is public. Otherwise post a screenshot.
