Hey Carbies,

Our company workload is sky-high so I'm on the lookout for another rocking intermediate developer/programmer to grow our excellent team.

Our Company
Lonely Viking (PTY) LTD, established in January 2019 (functioning as a sole prop for about 7 years prior) is a small agency that specializes in Business Process Automation, Custom Web Development/Design, and Custom Integration solutions. We leverage technologies/frameworks/platforms such as TailwindCSS, Svelte, Python, MySQL, PostgreSQL, REDIS, Tailwind CSS, AlpineJS, Svelte, Hasura, GraphQL, Rest APIs, SOAP Web Services, PHP, Laravel, AWS, Digital Ocean, Docker, and a couple other (honestly, too many to mention here). We are a small team, 8 people in total, all spread across Gauteng, mostly working remotely with regular meet-ups for work sessions together at our 'hotdesk' office space.

Our tech team:
Team lead, Martin, has more than 10 years of experience in programming, business analysis, architecture, and design within the corporate finance space, taking lead on most projects in the company.
Micheal, our tech lead and senior full stack developer is a beast at anything Python and will make you sweat bullets with the codebases he is working on daily, creating fully-fledged custom web applications from absolutely nothing.
Vernon, our newest, yet 'feels like he has been around forever' Viking accompanies Michael as a senior developer across all things tech with a primary focus on front-end development while also regularly conjuring up the most incredible reports and dashboards straight out of our SQL databases.
Adderus (we just call him DBag), our backend aficionado builds REST APIs in his sleep, serializing data, developing service layers and integrating into databases as if it was a kindergarten sandpit activity.
Stefan, our chief business analyst translates lofty dreams from clients into formalized technical specifications for our developers while also managing a lot of our Dev Ops (development automation), maintains our platforms, builds integration and innovates across any tech stack.
Sam, ex-high-school-science-teacher would probably say something like 'I work to support my rock-climbing hobby', but is honestly an outstanding developer, not nervous to tackle anything new, learning every day while also constantly sharing his knowledge with others and building our team step-by-step.

Our design team:
Head and chief of design, Shane, is the OG Viking, pioneering the company for almost 10 years - our go-to for anything UX/UI, graphic/web and logo design while being a pretty incredible businessman and mentor. He is truly a unicorn in the industry, able to build fully-fledged front-ends in VS Code (he calls it 'the matrix'), making them look like anything you can dream of in Adobe XD or Figma.
Nathi, fine arts, and web design king (we just call him "God of the UI") will WordPress (yes, we have a couple of those too) you into UI inception using Elementor, Oxygen, Gutenberg, Kadence, or anything really with some mad Photoshop skills to pair.
Lindsay, not only our legendary, alternative design chick but also an admin goddess is a godsend in our progressive, busy project environment.

Job Description
The position on offer is an Intermediate Web Developer/Programmer that will spend most of their time doing custom Web Development leveraging Tailwind CSS, Svelte, Python and PostgreSQL. Of course, there are code repos, deployment pipelines, Linux servers (Linux CLI), cron jobs, web service / API integrations etc also involved, but that goes without saying I hope.

You will be expected to spend 3 days a week at the office (based in Linksfield Johannesburg), odd days here and there on-site with clients (project kickoff, demos, project launch, etc) and flexible remote work the rest of the time.

Further Details
Position available: Intermediate-level Web Developer
Employment Type: Full-time (permanent) employment (with 3 month probation period)
Salary bracket: R420 000 p/a - R480 000 p/a (depending)
Leave days: ~15 days annually (depending)
Starting date: Position ready to be filled immediately
Mandatory skills: Javascript web frameworks (Angular, React, Vue, Svelte, any of those will do), CSS Framework (Bootstrap, Tailwind, Materialize, any of those will do), Python Python and some more Python, SQL DB (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Maria, Ms SQL, any of those will do) & we're pretty serious about Test driven development.
Basic requirements: Matric and some form of certificate/diploma/degree in Software (although, honestly, we are not picky with 'qualifications' - attitude and experience count way more).

As I'm sure you've deduced above, Lonely Viking is all about a willingness to learn, discover, grow, most importantly - self-motivated people.

Should any of the above tickle your fancy, get in touch with your code repo links/portfolio or CV.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
