Hi guys. I'm a software developer from Cape Town. I'm looking for a new job since November last year. The company I worked for was retrenching and I took the package on the second round of retrenchments. I did a short term contract after. I'm struggling to find a new opportunity. I've tried Offerzen and LinkedIn. I got a few interviews. Most of them seem to have went very well but I didn't manage to land anything and I didn't get feedback.

I have experience in Java/Spring boot and Javascript ecosystem. I would prefer to work with Java/Spring boot because a want that to be my main stack. However, I'm comfortable using any stack that the project requires. I have about 3 years experience working at a company plus a few freelance side projects.

I'm willing to work for half of what I want to be paid for the probation period until I prove myself.

PM me for my CV.

I went to the immigration expo this weekend.

So many countries have opportunities if you are considering moving but netherlands specifically said they only want software developers badly.

I'm not against the idea, however, I don't have a degree, which makes it difficult to work oversees. I would prefer to stay in South Africa though because of family.

Alright makes sense, I also don't have a degree which is why I'm studying part time at the moment.

Anyways buddy, best of luck to you. I think your first step and it's a difficult one without money, but that would be to get some sort of qualification under your name if you can. even if you need to borrow the money, it would pay itself off and I think that might be why some of your interviews that went well might have not gone through.

If I were to employ two people, especially in this day and age, it wasn't so bad a few years ago, I would consider yes experience, but that stupid piece of crap paper is so frigging valuable to employers, so if you can, even if you find a job, just in your part time try and get that stupid paper..

I have been draughting for 10 years and yet I can't find a new job as a draughtsman because no studies, hence why I'm doing engineering part time now. Even if I just get a diploma, that would help me big time.

Best of luck mate. and pray about it (if you are religious). God does work in mysterious ways.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of doing it but was unsure. I applied for to Mancosa for Bcom - Information and Technology Management. Let's see what happens. And yes prayer does help:)

It sucks to be in your position but I'm there at the moment just WITH the job.

need to get out of my in laws house ASAP because of big problems, but the house we just applied for we can't afford, or we MIGHT be able to, but will have to budget every last cent, which is almost impractical, so I'm doing part time interior design stuff in the evenings for extra cash to feed the wife and 2 kids.

My life currently consists of, day job, kids and wife, evening job and occasional lotto lol.

It's not exactly the same as yours, but it's still a stupid struggle which isn't nice. I hope you find something. May God bless you dude.
