It is fixable. You can cut out the little pin that holds the fan shaft in the housing. Or you can pop off the rotor, but this is more than a little nerve wracking, as you could damage the rotor. And clean around it and apply some general purpose machine oil, lucky the magnet is strong enough to keep the rotor assembly in the fan frame. Works rather well, had a similar situation and was able to resolve.
