Hi

I am looking for a Fender USA Strat and Fender Deluxe amp. Let me know if you have something.

Regards

I think your best bet would be Music Connection. They stock new and secondhand guitars ;)

Fantastic I will give them a shout. Any body heard about a shop called "King louis"?

What kind of deluxe are you looking for? The DRRI?

Eish, just saw now that Musicians friend has stopped doing international shipping. I bought my Blue Voodoo from them. Ended up being R1800 shipping and import duties. Was still R3500 less than what i could find in SA.

It is rough in SA to get these items for a reasonable price. Some guys want 10k for a six year old strat that is valued at 12k but they can do that because they are in short supply.

Sigh, pointless now man. Like I said, they have stopped doing international shipping. :(

Yeah - see they make mention of International Shipping still on their site - but its the little icon of the Globe which is the kicker - letting you in that they ship everywhere.
Now all I see are Canadian Flags on certain items :/

Anyway - not like I had R26k + shipping laying around for that Gibson Hummingbird I've been drooling over :(

EDIT: Well browsing the used gear - still finding quite a few items that are shipping here. :)

Did play in 2 bands...no time anymore and since Gary Moore passed on it is no fun playing without a rhythm guitarist anymore :)

Not gigging but playing with 2 bands at the moment. Been taking a while to recover after shattering my wrist so couldn't play for 2 years and had to leave my prev band.

I don't get why people with nice instruments have to be gigging musos though? Who cares? If you play music to make yourself happy, or to record, cool. Anyway who wants to go on stage with a great guitar? No one notices any tone difference live anyway. Some people just don't like performing.

Exactly the same as with modded PC's built from the ground up with top components. Does that make them professional gamers? Nope!

But we ALL still do this. I suppose I need to face the facts and buy a fender mexican as its 1/3 of the price....I am a part time studio musician.

i dont think thats the case at all. i was just curious if there are any of my fellow gaming nerds who i may actually have unknowingly shared a stage with sometime somewhere. on the contrary ive been in a bunch of bands, and have always jammed on near sub par equipment. i have non performing mates who love their equipment and look after their equiment a zillion times better than i do.

if i had (my dream) an american telecaster id never gig with it, because performing (while drinking et al) is a sure fire way to get dings and scratches on very very expensive and rather delicate equipment. ive been spilling drinks, and emphatically using beer bottles as slides on my two epiphones on stage for the last 10 years... and they still rock hard...

Bum,

This is where i disagree with you. I bought myself a Charcoal Frost American Strat for my 30th from me to me.

The sound.... good GOD the sound. Whether i one day decide to play live again or strum in front of a homeless guy, i'll love the sweet sound.

Get what you WANT - not what you need.

Innerself, didn't I buy/sell a Cube60 or something to/from you a few years back? Called you now now about a 660..

Also on this topic.. There's something magical about picking up an instrument you love. It sounds better, it makes you play better. It doesn't have to be an expensive instrument (expensive is usually different, not better)

Sadly, when recording in Studio 5 a while back, we compared an Epiphone with Toneriders to my Gibson R8 (which is a custom shop, and one of the top few LPs I have ever played) and in the mix, there was little difference... But I am still happier playing my baby :p
