Faulty GPU

Your first post is a rehash of the whole thread.

You still have no proof the card was "working" so the onus is on you to prove it was.

As I said he tried to fix something that was broken from day one. You should have stepped up then and said. "Im sorry. let me refund you and I will test the card when I get it" That is the right thing to have done. But you let him try and fix a dying card ie shirking responsibility.

I'm not being a bully in any way or form here. Just showing you what should have been done ethically from the start.

Refund the guy, take back your obviously broken card that started its BS from the first time it was turned on.

I cannot believe I need to tell an adult how to be mature and do the right thing.
To continue on from Ageless has said, OP has mentioned that he is new here and not yet fully familiar with everything and how deals go down, this is after all what looks to be his first deal.

What Ageless has said is justified, you’re a senior member in comparison to OP and you should’ve done the right thing and offered a refund as soon as he said it was faulty. From the way you you’ve handled the situation (varon) it looks now as if you are shifting the blame, whether or not that was the goal, what’s done is done. Being more experienced and knowledgeable of the dealings of Carb and the community that we are, you had the ability to help him out, but instead let him “sort it out” himself.

don’t mess with the overlord, youll be left off second best

Thank you @Ageless_ZA for stepping in and following protocol.

I always take a shit ton of pictures and videos of the items I sell as proof that it's working on my side before packaging (sometimes I slip a nice feet pic in for the weirdos :p ) The onus is on the seller to provide proof. We have had several high-rated members who have had to refund members because they couldn't prove the card was working prior to shipping. The card was faulty on arrival and it doesn't seem like a case of it just spontaneously breaking 6 days into it working fine and now the buyer demands a refund.

Kudos to @Sepashi for standing your ground and not stooping to name calling and threats, very mature behaviour 😘

I can not believe how biased you are being!

I'm not wasting my time to continue this conversation with you because it's clearly one sided! Undermining the other moderator proves that.

Biased? Cos its not in your favour right? Cos im not fluffing your ego and calling you nunu bean and telling you it'll be ok?

Facts are facts. This was shady from the first time @Sepashi turned that card on in his PC. and you "assisted him" with bullshit troubleshooting.

My moderator made a mistake, I am rectifying it.

I am the owner of this site, not a moderator. My call is final here. But I think we all know where this is heading. So I'll let you have one more reply before this ends up the way it really shouldn't need to.

So you're not willing to come to the party?

Anyways as it stands, I have reached out to @Sepashi and getting this card shipped to me. I'll have it tomorrow, I will test it in one of my rigs and see if I can replicate the issue. I'll give the card a good clean with IPA and blow out any and all dust. as well as inspect the card up close for signs of damage/issues.

Will report my findings back here when I am done. I'll then take the card to @ScorpioMan86 for full testing with his equipment and see what's broken :) and hopefully fix it for @Sepashi at my cost. No one deserves such a crappy start to the Carb life.

Failing it being fixed I have offered @Sepashi my spare HD7990 for his own personal use and to keep till he can afford a new card to replace this 1060

@varons666 I won't be removing you from here, but this thread and the negative feedback on your profile will stay in public view. Do with that as you please.

I test all cards before packing them, unfortunately I didn't video record the test of this card working but my brother was using this card in question about a month ago for media and gaming with only 80 deg temps when gaming up until he got himself another,

I was not asked neither did I give permission to the buyer to open up the card to put in thermal paste, he could have easily damaged the board or components,

WhatsApp convo above shows that the buyer opened up the card and was fine with the way it worked and then I closed the deal, then 8 days laters claims a refund for a faulty gpu, my advert also states the card is sold with no warranty,

Look at the difference from the first screenshot of artifacts compared to the image above after the buyer opened up the card.

I normally stay out of these threads for a reason, but in this instance I'll add my 2c (backed by a few years experience) in here.

Screenshots show signs of a dying GPU. Generally artifacting is caused by GPU core damage. Physical damage to any of the power delivery circuitry or even improper mounting of the cooler back on the card, is generally fatal damage where the gpu won't even turn on (system won't post) or it will turn on with a black screen.

The fact that the buyer in this case was able to provide proof showing a critical failure implies something that (in my experienced opinion) happened over time and not when it was opened.

The card didn't get "worse" after being opened, it was faulty (IMHO) from the getgo.

What's incredibly disappointing and sad here is that you @varons666 throwing away your carb reputation and putting your morals and ethics on the line for R2800 odd.

If anything, @Ageless_ZA is the most unbiased person I've met. You reacting the way you do and your "no compliance" stance speaks more than the "he said, she said" that's in this thread.

Often what determines the outcome is not what's lead up to the issue in the first place, but how it's handled down the line.

Your attitude towards this is incredibly poor and in my honest opinion, had I been a admin or a mod, I'd outright ban you. You are NOT the kind of person we want in our community based on your actions and judgement above.

If I can add my 5c. Initially, I saw this initially ending up in the sellers favour and in my mind I was thinking what a shitty first impression this is going to leave for the buyer. Also felt a bit bad as the guy seems sincere in that he desperately need the card to get by in his business. Shit

Regardless of this being a he said, she said, its really heartwarming to read about how the buyer is going to be assisted so that he can carry on with his stuff.

I think this is why if anyone is being shady at all, its so damaging to this community and its the reason why people will shit on you.
I hope after reading the way this thread went, people will ensure that enough proof is available both on the sellers and buyers side although if this was 20-25 years ago, a mans word was good enough.

I also like, that this is one of the few platforms, classified wise, where there are still a lot of honorable people. I'd hate for this to deteriorate.
Also if this gets posted, this is my last serious thread for the year.

Really impressed with the way this turned out. We're living in tough times lets spread the love.

Small update on this card.

GPU is indeed faulty as in the core itself, after extensive testing by @ScorpioMan86. He will still try work his magic on it however.

@Sepashi was lucky enough to have a card donated from a concerned Carbie so he can at least game still.

As I was reading this (as a new user who is looking to buy on carb). This thread taught me a lot.

On that first page I really couldn't believe this shit and immediately thought fuck this place. What if I'm next.

But damn man that @Ageless_ZA with the clear as day unbiased and fair assessment made me feel safe buying here.

Also I loved the judge dredd I am the law reanactment.

But yeah now I know what to look for.

Give me proof the card is working in pics and video please and thank you.

If I put the GPU in and it doesnt work immediately contact seller and ask what's up.

If updating drivers don't work (honestly this is the only thing the seller said that I can understand) then ask for a refund.

Simple. Clean.
I think the more important take-away here is - make sure that you have irrefutable video evidence of the fact that the item is working before you sell, even if it's a face-to-face deal. Make sure to include a shot of CPU-Z/GPU-Z/BIOS etc. and (if possible) the packaging to prove that the thing is indeed what you say it is. Add in a piece of paper with your username and the date for good measure.
