Hi guys,

I bought this card from @PC Rescue and after a few months of gaming, I am getting rid of it.
Original post and summary of the state of the card is here: [Sale] - EVGA 1080ti SC2 (Please Read Properly) | Nvidia

The reason for the sale is that the card or my pc is misbehaving with Destiny2. Its fine in LOL, Final Fantasy, COD and Rocket league, but its crashing in destiny2 for some reason.
It wasn't doing this when I played on my 1070. I benchmarked her, she runs perfectly, zero issues but in my main game, I have wobbles. Haven't been able to find the problemo, and i dont want to run destiny2 and 60 fps to stop the DX crash.

So I am selling it and buying something else.

Item: EVGA 1080ti SC2
Age: Unsure
Price: R7250

Hi bud. Thats probably due to the windows updates. It has been really crappy the last couple of months. Have a look unless you really want to sell...

Thanks for the heads up bud. I play games daily so I continuously look at issues and try and improve things.
My friends and the lads in my clan reckon its not a hardware issue, but like I said, I just cannot deal with any instability.
I am also just as mindful of the games having bugs.
I am in two minds, I wont lie. I love the 1080ti, its a beast at great value.

Nothing much beats it other than 2080 ti (in my opinion up to 1440p) and for the price of those, even used, I would rather wait to see what the next gen green and red will offer and then decide.

I benchmarked the card to test stability when I got it, it never misbehaved once. I ran benchmarks after I got a new chassis and rebuilt the machine and again, zero issues. The problem seems to only be in the games I rereferred to above.

Benchmarks below:

So I have no idea what it is, but I am either trading for another 1080ti and I am happy to add some cash as the card potentially has an issue, or maybe trade up. I'm not keen on down grading. Chatting to a potential trader, but I thought I would post the benchmarks here. Like i said, no idea if it is actually a hardware issue or just a misbehaving game.

Okay so as requested by a prospective trader, I spent an hour benchmarking the card tonight.
I used Heaven and Superposition benchmarking tools, along with ticking max settings on the GPUZ sensor page to reflect stats.

Results - heaven benchmarking - desktop with timestamps included:

Run 1

Run 2

Run 3

Hi, I’m new to this site, not sure if I’m doing this right. Anyways, I’m interested in purchasing.

Hi there. I thought I would update and close the thread, showing you the findings and fix :)
I cannot say thank you enough to @Heinrich for helping me over the weekend with incredible advice and guidance, you my man, are a legend!

Okay, so to wrap this up, looking at all of the benchmarks and GPU-Z data, Heinrich recommended to me that I under volt the card. I watched the video that he linked and downloaded MSI after burner. As I had never done this before and was quite worried about how this works, thinking that I was going to mess around with hectic things in the card, I ran MSI afterburner on my second screen while playing destiny at max settings, and saw the card boost to almost 2000mhz which then resulted in a crash a little while after. Thinking this was unusual, I dropped the base clock from 1557mhz to 1457mhz, which ultimately stops the card from boosting over 2000mhz, I think it stops around 1850mhz now.
Since this relatively simple change, none of my games have crashed, the machine is running really well and everything seems great.
Further advice received is to change back to a stock bios if I want to further improve and investigate but honestly, I am completely chaffed that my card and games are now rock solid.

So thanks again to the guys who offered me their trades and purchases, and again, huge thanks to @Heinrich
If I sell or trade the card going forward, at least now I will know more :)

Pic for you of the slider on the MSI Afterburner app on the left which was moved to -100, which then down clocks. GPU-Z on the right then shows you the difference once applied. The values have base and current stats.

I would like to trade this card for another 1080ti. depending on the condition and make of yours, I will add cash.

I also live in Bothasig. I have a EVGA GTX 1080 8gb icx FTW2. If you intrested in swapping with cash difference let me know

Having a similar issue. Did you perhaps have a VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (141) crash with your 1080ti?
Any hard freezes and restarts? Did it crash while browsing chrome for example

Overclocked my 1080 ti gaming oc to 2015mhz and memory to 9000mhz, no problem except in cod every now and then. Moved core v to max and power limit to max. Setup custom fan profile to increase fan speed as the default is crap

Mine seems to bomb out at 2077mhz and 7233 for the memory.

That is an awesome overclock.

Okay so firstly, thanks for all of the responses, you guys rock.

Secondly, I actually watched some tutorials and undervolted the card and increased the fan curve a little. I will monitor and reply to the post.

So the summary of the situation is this - I have been told that these Ti cards are more enthusiast cards and due to the headroom given to the overclocking capabilities, that they can have funnies. I can 100% limit the card from boosting and game in a stable basis.
What i am trying to achieve here is going back to basics where I plug the card in, install the drivers, and smile at the awesome performance. I don't want to the card to over perform and in doing so, have issues with some of the games.
I am happy to tweak and configure to a certain degree, but ultimately I just want this to work and give me the raw performance.
With the amount of benchmarks and other validations done here, the card itself obviously doesn't have an issue. It just seems too eager :)

Hi bud. I don't use Chrome so that isn't an issue.

In Cod I get a "DEV Error 5763" which seems to be a common issue, or the occasional lockup and crash to desktop.

In Destiny, I get error code "Broccoli" which also seems to be a generic underlying issue affecting users differently.
Bungie has posted what they to cause Broccoli errors using the following break down:
  • If your Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is overclocked then you may encounter this issue.
  • If your graphics card driver is not working properly.
  • If the power limit of your GPU is low then there is a greater chance that you will encounter error code broccoli.

If a game is throwing out an error code 'broccoli' it's a sure sign to move on to a better game not a different GPU :D

Seems as if you and Heinrich are right....
I did the under volt as per the video and this card is humming.
No game or stability issues at all.
And yes, I will trade this for another 1080ti, and I will add some money in from my side depending on the make and model.
If you want to buy the card, the price is in the original post.
Lastly, one of the display ports isn't working. The other two DP's and the HDMI work perfectly.
