I've have known 3 of the guys that have gone. The goods you take a tax free (including the booze, so no sin tax). You also get a clothing/food/lodging.
And a great experience. How many people can claim to have gone?
If I was wifeless and childless, I would have gone in a heartbeat.

We do. It's in Hermanus. I've been on a tour there. They mostly do ground based observation of magnetic fields and solar flares, but we have 2 satellites up in space collecting data on solar radiation and other stuff.
They setup in Hermanus because the base rock there is very low in magnetism.
