DSTV Sports Alternatives?

So I use a streaming service and a laptop with uBlock Origin. I do not pay for these

I believe I'm not supposed to share those links. Sorryyyy🤣
uBlock Origin - Best software ever

Remember mobile is cellphones / tablets only. Any TV app (Apple TV Android TV or Smart TV OS app) takes up the one stream regardless of all the mobile streams you can add or have.

One combo I haven't tested is TV app and laptop browser stream? (don't think it will work)

Just checked. They allow three streams off one account. What would qualify as mobile device though, I am not sure. If laptop, then cool, connect it to your TV.

I think you pay extra for those mobile streams.

Devices connected to an account and streaming at the same time are not the samer thing. They are misleading you, because you can only stream on one of those devices at the same time.

What does work though is opening Edge/Chrome in a Private window & then signing in. Open another tab, sign in again. Both windows will stream, you can watch F1 & MotoGP at the same time. Note: I use a streaming PC when watching sport, not my decoder.

I wish DSTV could look at a PPV for sport, rugby, F1, etc. I am pretty sure they would nail it.

Who wouldn't be prepared to pay R100 to watch the Rugby on Saturday via a limited time stream?

You have access from 1 hour prior to kick off to after the post-match interviews.

Big boxing matches and UFC fights start at $80, i doubt DSTV could afford to lose more subscribers and make it up with R100 an event.

Well, it's this line of thinking that has lead to DSTV bleeding subscribers.

Their only solution so far to keep making money has been to raise the premium. And you pay over R800 for premium, and then still have to watch an advert, or 2, when you select a movie to watch?

They need to start thinking out the box.

R100 was just an example. But they clearly need to come up with some new ideas and strategies.

I phoned them yesterday to complain that the wife cant record the few shows she watches. You must pay extra for PVR, then the R929 for the premium, and then R120 extra to be able to record the few shows that is viewable. Naturally i told them to go fuck themselves.

Downgraded to the smallest package with food channel

What if you use BlueStacks to run virtual Andriod on your pc.
Would that be a mobile subscription?
DSTV App won't work with BlueStacks because of the DRM. You cannot even use your phone plugged in to a TV via USB-C to HDMI either.

USB-C to HDMI on an iPad does work with Showmax though. It’s the cheapest way to watch Premier League legally on a big screen (R69 per month)

Update after some testing: TV app and Browser work

On the TV app (which streams in 4k no problem) during the DSTV stream on Saturday (RSA vs NZ in Cape Town) at about 60% through the game there was heavy buffering and sub 360p streaming and pausing almost every 30 seconds. We missed the final try due to the buffering. This was from DSTV from paying R800/month this is laughable.

The dodge sites I had to scramble to find during the game (that will not be named) were more reliable than the official stream. Looks like if you're going to go DSTV you're going to need a satellite dish for the big games. Anyone else have any issues like this?

Yes, that is why I use a dumb TV and a PC whose only job in to stream sport over a weekend. I have tried multiple boxes as well as a SmartTV which I ended up giving away as it was kinda useless trying to use the TV APP. It is more black screen than actual stream.

Usually the stream suffers when some big soccer game is on (eg, MTN8 final). We had it once where the F1 stream died and had to swap over to F1TV. F1TV is also better quality and higher bitrate.

i have been streaming my sports now for 10 years with no issues at all
been with current provider for 7 years, have no issues watching sport, Sky, TNT etc.

with RD going down this weekend, time to look at alternatives for cached files till RD is back up,
what do you guys currently use for tv series that updates daily

I'm using F1TV for F1 (local subscription).

I also pay for Discovery+ (UK) for WEC and other sports and Willow (US) for cricket.

Works out to around R450 a month.

Thanks, yeah you and a few others recommended F1TV and it's great. For the price and all the features (multiples streams, different live driver cams, data screens etc).

I'm on F1TV (6euro/m), WSL (free) and still haven't found a more long term solution for international rugby.

Late to the party, but DSTV stream for R699 has been serving me well, better than the R1200 I was paying that lost signal every time the sky farted or a breath of a baby wind interrupted my viewing experience
