Don't get into mining they said

Any and all investments are based on some form of luck, IMO. Even something as rock-solid as property or gold. If the world decides tomorrow that gold isn't as rare as people think it is (it really isn't, there's enough gold in the planet's core to cover the entire surface in almost half a meter deep of solid gold), or as useful as it really is (it has very little real world application), we're all screwed. The bro who bought cows or chickens with all his monies will be better off, because you can do something with a cow and a chicken (although they can't do things with each other, that would be frowned upon).

Live and let live!

No point in looking at missed opportunities, if all it does is irritate you. :)

I never got into bitcoin. I will most probably die a fool, but I never focus on making money and probably never will. I have friends that get super upset seeing rich bitcoin dudes, because easy money you know. It was all a gamble, and it payed off really well for some. Their minimal risk and max reward. I also have friends who bought bitcoin way too late, and lost some monies. They are even more upset...

If someone made a bunch of money on an opportunity I did not know about or rather skipped out on, I don't see how that makes any difference to my current life? And if it has 0 influence on me, I do not care. <3

Could've, Would've, Should've.... Not worth minding those words.
Well said man.

Exactly... and dont forget... the world is in debt... to the world. Lol. It's all just "creative accounting".

"Safe as houses" isn't as safe as it was before. Property is hit and miss (mostly) where it was mostly hit and hit in generations past.

And people think they know everything about trading trader buys 150k worth of btc for a measly R735 ;)

Thanks for the conversation and debate. I'll bump this thread in 2024 and touch base.

By 2024 there might be a lot more people locally using bitcoin to 'financially emigrate' without too much hassle.

It seems that there is a lot more interest in bitcoin locally from people who are leaving the country, or who just want to get their money out of the country. I think people are also looking at the last year performance of close to 100% up for the year, and comparing it to the Rand performance. Many people are anticipating a downgrade for SA in 2020, which could hit the ZAR hard.

Whatever the reason, there is more people interested in taking the risk with some bitcoin.

A "10% from all time highs" bump.
Waiting for payday so I can also hodl like the cool kids.

In the previous rally I made around 50% profit on my Luno portfolio* so I am hoping to repeat that success.

*By "portfolio" I mean I put in R 500 and cashed out R 750. Paid for a nice dinner. Maybe this time around I can get two dinners :)

99.9% of bitcoin buyers are in profit or break even. New all time highs on some exchanges.

Holy thread resurrection Batman, but this is the first time I've seen this post and the resulting handbags at dawn!

So to up the irony of this thread, I know the owner of that GT3 RS. More accurately, my car was parked to the right of where that photo was taken on the day after a 5 day supercar rally ;) (The Cullinan hotel in Cape Town)

The owner got the plate since he thought it would be funny. He doesn't and never did own a single bitcoin. But he thought people would froth over the notion that he bought the car with bitcoin :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
