Does OS really matter?

Does it really matter if you using EthOS or Simple Mining OS or PiMP OS compared to Windows? Will you see better hashrates? Has anyone tried both worlds to give some feedback.

The only difference with the OS's are the features they offer. I find ethos to be more feature rich in the sense of access, monitoring and configuration than windows. It also runs off a 16GB flash disk and requires no additional installations other than extracting the iso onto the disk and inserting into pc.
