Hey guys

So just picked up a 29 inch ultra wide, this one to be exact.

lg 29um68-p

It has 2 x hdmi and 1 x display port.

Running an RX570 armor OC at stock.

I can't seem to get the monitor to display anything via disolay port.

List of things I've tried:

1. Tried all dp ports on the gpu.
2. DDU and reinstall drivers
3. Installed LG drivers.
4. Tried the single dp cable I have.
5. Tried DP to HDMI adapter, this works when adapter is GPU side, plugged into HDMI on screen side, but PC recognises it as HDMI not DP.
6. Tried monitor on a different pc, same results.

So this is where things get a little weird.

With the DP cable connected, I get a black screen. Note, this is the only cable connected to either the screen or the GPU.

If i use the monitors on screen controls to split the screen, selecting one of the other inputs (hdmi 1 for eg - which has nothing connected to it) i get a split screen, extended desktop mode, albeit at a lower resolution, indicating to me at least, that the DP input on the screen is not dead, otherwise, it wouldn't display anything.

I mean it's fine that it works via HDMI but I kinda need the DP to work on order to get the 75hz freesync working. Can't go above 60hz on hdmi.

The only thing I haven't tried is a different cable. The cable i have came with the screen and i have no idea what standard etc it is, and don't want to go out and buy a cable if the cable isn't the issue, but it's the only thing left that i can think of that could be causing issues.

I'm wondering if the resolution (2560 x 1080) is too high for the cable to display which is why it then does display in split mode? Dunno if that's a thing.

Any advice welcome, would also be great if there were someone in the nearby area (Moreleta Park, Garsfontein etc) that had a cable i could test?

Thanks in advance

It's kinda a thing, but not sure if the Hz and res combo you are using would exceed your cable's spec, but yeah all cables are not the same
I had to change to better quality DP and HDMI cables when I switched to 120/165hz QHD
